Unplugging from the Matrix

I will be on vacation next week, so this will be my last post until I return.

plug pulled out of an outlet

I don’t know about you, but periodically I need to unplug. I sent an e-mail to my direct reports today and told them I will not be checking e-mail. If they have an emergency, they can call my cell phone. Otherwise, I am offline for the next week.

If you are about to take a vacation, I would urge you to do the same thing. Your people can survive for a week without you. In fact, you might just discover that they actually get more done without your constant meddling! (All of my people are nodding “yes!”)

We are headed to the beach with the family and several of our friends. I am going to spend the week reading, writing, and enjoying the people I love most. I can’t wait.

In the meantime, you can take a vacation from me. Hopefully, I will come back with a charged battery and more energy.
