Another brilliant tool for a company to use is Google Mini.

Your internal Wiki may become a "Wikipedia of Thomas Nelson" but make sure you also have the most important tool of the web - a "Google of Thomas Nelson".

Google Mini is invaluable tool for a company.

Mike -

I tend to agree with you that logging in does make people accountable in a corporate environment. Anywho, my voice was the minority in that matter. Shame.

Anyway, I've been reading your blog now for some time and have really liked what I've found here. Keep up the great writing!

I'd also like to know how it all goes. I introduced MediaWiki to small band of people within Christchurch (NZ) City Council and whilst the readers/user were happy the authors rebelled against having to use a non0-WYSIWYG interface.

However, I am moving my new company to the SharePoint Wiki for the Intranet which I trust won't be so onerous on the authors.

Good luck with it all

Ben,

I hear this kind of fear a lot. But the the fact that people have to log in makes them accountable—even more so in a company. Plus, I think that most people, when given the opportunity, want to do the right thing. I'm willing to take the risk.

Thanks,

Mike

Michael - I'm very interested to read a follow up on this entry from you sometime in the future, say six months or so. When it came time for our company to implement a new and updated "collaborative" intranet site, I pushed MediaWiki as a solution. However, they chose to purchase a piece of software for this task.

I'd love to know your experiences with MediaWiki as an intranet technology. Both from the technology perspective and also from the social/cultural perspective. One worry people in my organization had was that people would post inappropriate content or things of that nature.

Great article and I'm glad to see MediaWiki getting some corporate usage.
