You see, when there is danger, a good leader takes the front line. But when there is celebration, a good leader stays in the back room. If you want the cooperation of human beings around you, make them feel that they are important. And you do that by being humble. — Nelson Mandela

My Most Popular Posts of 2008

Since the first of the year, I have seen several bloggers post links to their most popular posts for 2008. I decided to post mine in case you missed these when I originally wrote them.

Since TypePad, my blogging service, doesn’t provide this kind of statistical information, I had to look elsewhere. In the process, I stumbled across PostRank, a service that “measures engagement by analyzing the types and frequency of an audience’s interaction with online content.”PostRank scores each post based on the “ 5 Cs” of engagement: creating, critiquing, chatting, collecting, and clicking. It collects metrics in these categories and then assigns each post a score.

According to PostRank, here were my top posts in 2008 and their respective scores.

  1. Creating a Life Plan (10.0)
  2. So You Want to Run a Half Marathon (10.0)
  3. Resources for Beginning Runners and Walkers (10.0)
  4. The History of Thomas Nelson (9.9)
  5. The Beginner’s Guide to Twitter (9.9)
  6. 12 Reasons to Start Twittering (9.8)
  7. Four Leadership Lessons from the Super Bowl (9.3)
  8. Seven Reasons to Run the Half Marathon (8.5)
  9. What the Internet is Doing to our Brains (7.9)
  10. The Recession Hits Home (7.8)

I don’t think these posts were necessarily my best posts. Here are another ten I would have included:

  1. A Self-Imposed Media Fast (7.7)
  2. Whatever Happened to Modesty (7.3)
  3. Yes, You Can Stay on Top of Email (7.3)
  4. Too Many Books, Too Few Shelves (7.0)
  5. Creating WOW Product Experiences (6.9)
  6. The How of WOW (6.8)
  7. 10 Benefits of a Recession (6.7)
  8. What I Have Learned in Four Years of Blogging (6.4)
  9. Seven Ways to Build our Author Brand Online (6.1)
  10. The Wealth Wall Street Can’t Touch (5.5)
Question: Do you have a favorite, particularly one that isn’t listed here?
