Yes I have attended. It’s an all-around experience from the moment you enter the parking lot! The teaching is incredible and the creativity keeps you engaged the entire time. There is nothing quite like worshipping with 12,000 of your peers in such a big environment … yet feels so intimate.
I enjoy the worship aspect, too. I should have mentioned that in my post. The only thing that rivals the worship is Women of Faith. But, since we own that conference, I may be biased. ;-)
Catalyst changed my perspective last year. I was in seminary and a really bad place, exhausted from studies and ministry and turning cynical. God kicked me out of that complacent, dark place and renewed the vision He has called me to in ministry.
Plus the crazy stuff Catalyst does is always fun and worshiping our great God with 12,000 brothers and sisters is quite an experience in itself
I can't wait – I need my Catalyst "fix" more this year than any other year. The well is a bit dry and I need God to move in such a powerful way. I love Catalyst because there isn't another movment out there like it with such passionate and agressive Christ Followers…the people who attend want and CAN change the world for Him. I am praying the God will REIGN down in such a supernatural way that many of us have never experienced BEFORE!

Was introduced to Catalyst in 2005 & it's been a crazy-fun journey ever since. What amazes me most is how each year God uses the speakers, worship, and creativity in a unique way. His voice is clear and it's awesome worshipping with so many other people!

The thing I love most about Catalyst is the tremendous balance between an entertaining environment and deep challenging teaching. In so many spaces of the Church today it seems to be an either/or thing. But Catalyst allows you to walk away having had your faith challenged and your boundries of ministry shattered while also having had a great time.
I couldn't agree more. It really pushes against "business as usual." Plus, it is just plain entertaining.

Actually, I think you will get WAY more out it if you pay your way, even if you have to do some extra work to get the money. When I have nothing invested, I don't get as much out of it.
This is my first Catalyst…taking our church plant team to it is sooo exciting! Our launch date is October 18th….can't wait to be poured into by God through all the gifted speakers!

never been to catalyst. but i've seen the picture on your blog. just curious that you used the word "immersive." As a corp trainer I'm curious how an arena setting accomplishes "immersive?" are there breakout sessions for small groups and interactivity? or how is "immersive" defined in this context?

Yes, there are breakout sessions. However, I define immersive as something that involves all your senses. It's like being thrown into an ocean where the input is visual, aural, and, at times, tactile.
By immersive, I meant to imply an event that appeals to all of your senses—visual, aural, and even at times, tactile. It is like jumping into an ocean of deeply stimulating and moving experience.

The first time I attended Catalyst after a few years of failed attempts, either from lack of funds, to other commitments, was a truly significant moment. My boss (the student pastor) surprised me with a ticket one Wednesday evening, after a church service. This was significant in it's own way, as my previous pastor didn't invest in me. He told me to drop everything and attend this with him, even though I had some books due to go to press soon.
I sat on the edge of my seat when the question was raised, "Do you want the power of God to work in your life?" by Rick Warren. My questions at the time to God were answered in the simple response, "Be about what God is about, that's what He's blessing." Ha. Duh! When everything seemed so complex for this wide-eyed pastor just 3 or 4 years in ministry, God showed his profound simplicity and steadied my heart. This changed everything. I was in love with the Catalyst conference because of the people and wisdom it connected me to. That was my Catalyst experience.
