I am the Chief Executive Officer of Thomas Nelson Publishers, the largest Christian publishing company in the world and the seventh largest trade book publishing company in the U.S.
Like icons, Christian books can be tangible points of grace in our lives. What a great quote! (Also, I'm an Orthodox Christian, so the St. Epiphanius quote especially resonates with me).
I wonder if blogs and the likes have the same effect?
Who needs books and icons when you can have a relationship with the Beloved, the One who calls us His beloved!
Ah, but book and icons are not mutually exclusive to have a relationship with Christ, rather they are spiritual tools to aid in that relationship. I suspect perhaps you have a Bible, and in your church you have a cross? ^_^
Hang on; which book market was Epiphanius discussing?! His statement is not a carte blanche. What he states is certainly a good goal for our writing and publishing efforts. He is not grading our performance! Thanks Epiphanius. Will strive for that goal.
