No Podcast for This Week

I wanted to let you know that there won’t be a podcast this week. I am working hard with my team to finish a couple of really exciting projects. I made the choice to invest my hours there and skip the podcast for this week.

Thanks for your support. I look forward to connecting with you next week.

Comment Counts

If you are a frequent visitor to my site, you may notice that comment counts are lower than you remembered them. That’s because they are!

Previously, my comment widget (in the sharebar) was counting Disqus “reactions,” which was any social interaction—comments, tweets, Facebook posts, etc. However, the widget is now just counting true comments.

The comment count still may be off slightly from time to time, as we are still pulling the number from Disqus. It can sometimes take several minutes for the counts to synchronize and catch up.

Wanted: Podcast Producer

I am looking for a smart, reliable, can-do person to manage the production of my weekly podcast, This Is Your Life. After producing thirty-one episodes myself, I want to outsource the post-production aspects of my workflow, so I can focus on creating the content.

If you are interested—or know someone who might be—click here for more information, including the

New E-mail Button on ShareBar

We just added an e-mail icon to the ShareBar which is displayed above and below main posts and below most mini-posts. It looks like this:

New ShareBar with E-mail Icon

Note: You’ll need to scroll down to another post to test it. (Make sure you are on the home page.) The above is just an image.

This may not work on all browsers or e-mail clients. Please let us know in the comments section if it doesn’t work on yours. Our goal was to create a simple way for users to share my posts with their friends and business associates.

This new feature will be part of my new GetNoticed! theme. I am just a few days away from announcing the beta program. When I do, I will tell you how to apply for the beta.

I’m Taking Labor Day Off

I am taking Labor Day off. It is a holiday here in the U.S.

According to Wikipedia, Labor Day celebrates the economic and social contribution of workers. The first Labor Day was observed on September 5, 1882. It ultimately became a federal holiday in 1894.

Labor Day is celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer. In fact, when I was a boy, school didn’t start until after the holiday. Those were the days!

Enjoy the time with your family and friends.

No Podcast Until Thursday

Since I posted on my blog yesterday (Tuesday), I decided to wait and post my podcast on Thursday. Thanks for your patience. I think you will like this episode. It’s one of my favorites so far.

Special Discount for SCORRE Conference Ends Tomorrow!

The next SCORRE Conference will be held in Vail, Colorado, October 17–20, 2012. The special “early bird discount” ends tomorrow.

Here’s the deal: If you register any time before the end of the day on July 31st, we will give you $200 off the regular price.

Don’t miss this opportunity. This is your chance to take your speaking and communication skills to the next level. To take advantage of this special offer, register with the coupon code HYATT.

Note: This conference will sell out. If you want in, you need to take action NOW. Our last two conferences have sold out.

By the way, you take ZERO RISK. If you attend the conference and don’t feel the investment was worth every penny you paid, we will happily refund your full registration fee, no questions asked.

Also, Ken Davis and I will both be there. In addition to teaching one of the sessions, I will be present for the whole conference, interacting with the students. So will Ken.

I hope to see you there!

New Speaking Representation

I am pleased to announce that I have just entered into an exclusive speaker representation agreement with Premiere Speakers Bureau in Nashville, Tennessee. They are one of the top bureaus in the country, representing speakers such as Andy Andrews, Patrick Lencioni, Elizabeth Smart, Neal Cavuto, and Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Premiere Speakers Bureau Logo

I have been friends with Duane Ward, the founder and CEO of Premiere for more than two decades. Working with him and his outstanding team has been a dream of mine for years. I am thrilled it is now a reality.

I am limiting myself to fifty engagements a year. I speak on a variety of topics related to platform-building, leadership, and productivity. You can find out more by visiting my Speaking page.

On Vacation

I am on vacation beginning on Monday, July 2nd. I will be offline while I am away. No e-mail, Twitter, or Facebook.

Instead, I will be reading, relaxing, and enjoying time alone with Gail. My goal is to “refill the tank,” so to speak, so I can continue to share what I am learning.

I have scheduled blog posts to run while I am away. I am pulling these from the archive. They are my top ten posts of all time. I have revised them to make sure they are still relevant. I think you will enjoy them.

(I did pre-schedule a few Twitter and Facebook posts to announce my blog posts. However, I am not online, so don’t be offended if I don’t reply!)

See you on the other side.

Platform Is Officially a Bestseller

I am pleased to announce that my new book, Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World, landed on several bestseller lists this week:

  • Amazon Top Overall Books (#4)
  • Amazon Top Marketing Books (#1)
  • New York Times Hardcover Advice Best Sellers (#12)
  • USA Today Best-Selling Books (#92)
  • Wall Street Journal Hardcover Business Best-Selling Books (#5)

Thanks to all my friends who helped make this happen, especially the members of the Platform Launch Team.

I’m Taking the Day Off

It’s been a busy week of travel, speaking, and interviews. As a result, I chose not to write a blog post for today. Thanks for understanding. I’ll have a new post up tomorrow.
