Breaking Your Routine
Sometimes you need to give yourself permission to break your routine. Some days you just can’t help it.

Like today. I have a Board meeting in New York tomorrow. I spent most of the weekend preparing for it. I thought I was done last night, but I discovered several things I wanted to change this morning.
It took every spare minute I had to get it done. I ended up canceling several meetings and working through lunch. I even re-scheduled my flight to New York to give myself more time.
But fortunately, this is the exception rather than the rule. Most of the time, my life is pretty orderly. I have time to get the important stuff done. But not today—and that’s okay. Like the bumper sticker says, “Dodo occurs.” This was just one of those days.
But tomorrow will be different. I’ll get back to my routine, and life will be a little more manageable.
That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.
