Don’t Believe Everything You Hear

I hear lots of rumors. Usually, I don’t take them seriously until I hear them from more than one source.

According to the most recent rumor—which I’ve now heard twice—we are planning a layoff for June 19th. The rationale, I am told, is that InterMedia, our new capital partner, is wanting bigger profits. The only way to get these profits is to cut expenses. We are scheduled to close the transaction on June 12th, so, supposedly, this will happen the week following.

I want to assure you that this is indeed a baseless rumor. There is absolutely no truth to it.

No one speaks to InterMedia more than I do, and I have never had such a discussion with them. It has never come up. Other than the usual administrative stuff, most of our discussions have been been focused on how we can grow the business together to fulfill our mission as a Company.

If you hear this rumor, I would be grateful if you would help me short-circuit it. You can tell ’em it’s not true, and you heard it directly from me.

I haven’t heard this rumor, but I’m sure I speak for many others also when I say that I appreciate your leadership in heading this off at the pass. Having gone through other company transitions in the past I know how easily rumors (almost always negative) can take hold.

Like my pastor used to say about sharing information, “If I don’t talk to my people then the devil will”. Thank you for keeping things out in the light.

I’ve heard this same rumor a couple of times. The unfortunate thing about rumors is that they are a lot like advertising…the more you hear them the more apt we are to believe the message. Thanks for the info and clearing the dust.

One of my sales managers just asked me about this today. I appreciate that fact that you addressed this so quickly and that your answer supported my reactions. Keep the vision and we will follow, share the vision and we will all be leaders.

Thanks for clearing this up. I was actually asked if I was starting the rumor myself. Lord knows I would be the last to hear this. In any event, your leadership in settling this issue should also your leaders as well.
