    Dear Mike,

    I followed your instructions for setting up a blog through wordpress. I found it easy and simple. However when I used google to locate my blog site, it did not work. I am a pastor who wants to post my sermons, Biblical insights and devotionals on-line and I was hoping that wordpress would provide that venue. How can I get my blog to show up on a google search.       Eric—you just hit on the million dollar question! There is an entire industry—called SEO (Search Engine Optimization) that is focused on getting found/ranked in Google. Depending on how long you have had the site up it may take Google a little while to find it (index) your site. There are a bunch of things that you can do to help Google find your site and rank it higher and higher… everything from building backlinks to submitting a simple site map to Google and the other search engines. Google really loves new/fresh/relevant content that hits on keywords, and it loves back-links. You could google “how to get indexed by google” or “basic SEO tips”

      Don’t get overwhelmed—there are a million different things you can do—just do a little at a time!
