Introducing the Get Noticed! Theme for WordPress

We shipped 150 copies of our Limited Release Preview on July 15th. We will be making more copies available in the next few weeks. If you wanted to be notified, make sure you signup at the bottom of this post.

I am about to launch my own premium WordPress theme. It is called GetNoticed! and is based on the principles I share in my New York Times bestseller, Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World.

GetNoticed! Screenshot

Andrew Buckman, my web developer, and I built this theme from the ground up. Our goal was to create a theme for anyone wanting to build a personal brand. This includes authors, comedians, speakers, pastors, and corporate executives.

Here are just a few of the features we’ve baked in:

  • Fourteen different custom Mini-Postsannouncements, books, events, links, photos, slides, videos, and more. This enables you to share resources without writing a full blog post.
  • A custom Social Sharebar that not only makes it super-easy for your readers to share your posts on their favorite social networks, but also prominently displays the share counts, providing powerful social authority.

    GetNoticed! ShareBar

  • A custom Recruitment Form that enables you to collect e-mail addresses and build your mailing list. This is essential if you are going to build your platform. (Check out the top of the sidebar to see this in action now.)
  • Several new Sidebar Widgets, so you don’t have to install these as plugins. These include a Social Reach widget, Follow Me widget, Popular Posts, Upcoming Events, and Favorite quotes. (Check out the sidebar to see these in action now.)
  • A specially designed Landing Page Template, that gives you the option of eliminating the navigation that distracts your prospects from buying. It includes a spot for a Countdown widget (for time-limited offers), Buy Buttons for major retailers, Guarantees, and Testimonials. (Here’s an example.)
  • A built-in Event Calendar, which is perfect for public speakers, entertainers, and artists. It automatically pulls in the Event mini-posts and lists them in date order. You can place a list in the sidebar or on your speaking page.
  • A Fat Footer that enables you to redeem this otherwise forgotten real estate to promote your top links, services, products, and resources—or anything else you want. Scroll to the bottom of this page for examples.
  • And lots more …

We’ve also made use of the latest web technologies, so that the theme is responsive and beautiful, whether your readers access your blog via the web, iPad, iPhone, Android, or any other mobile device.

Though we’ve launched the theme on my site, we still have some work to do, including a couple of features for the sharebar that aren’t quite done and some improvements to the way the site renders on the iPad. As soon as we have the kinks worked out, we will move to a limited beta test and then a public rollout. We hope to launch in the next few months.

If you’d like to be notified when the theme is released, please sign-up below. If you are interested in participating in the GetNoticed! beta test, sign-up here as well. You will get the invitation to apply first. (Note: signing up here does not guarantee a slot in the beta program. We will be limiting the number of participants, so that we can adequately support them.) I won’t use this mailing list for any other purpose.

Finally, I am also planning to recruit a GetNoticed! launch team, similar to what I did with my book.) This will enable us to collect additional feedback and help us get the word out.

Final Note: We have not yet announced a launch date. We are hoping to have it out by the end of first quarter of 2013, but it all depends on how the beta test goes.

Questions: What do you think of theme? Any suggestions? You can leave a comment by clicking here.

Hi, Michael, I am very glad that you have finally added mobile support to your blog theme. It looks great on my android smartphone.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

This was actually the impetus to do something sooner rather than later. We realized that 25% of my traffic was from mobile devices, we knew we needed to do something. Thanks.

      • http://www.MicheleCushatt.com/ Michele Cushatt

I’ve noticed the same with my traffic—tons of mobile readers out there.

        • http://www.brandongilliland.com/ Brandon Gilliland

           Very true!

        • Marnatha

Yes I am one of those mobile folks. Without a smart phone I would not be able to join these dialogs as it would not work out sitting in front of a computer.

          Great looking theme!

      • http://www.junesjournal.com/ June

Please note that the main category buttons don’t all fit in one row in the Google Chrome browser.  The Resources button wraps to a second row (This row: Personal Development, Leadership, Productivity, Platform, Publishing, and Resources).  I hope this is helpful. Thanks!

        • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I am not seeing this. I am using Chrome too. No matter how wide or narrow I go, the buttons resize and stay on one row. Thanks for reporting. I am bringing this to Andrew’s attention. (He’s my developer.)

          • http://www.junesjournal.com/ June

Interesting. It wraps on both my laptop (1366 x 768) and external monitor (1280 x 1024) in Chrome.  I have Version 22.0.1229.94 m.  I’ll upgrade my Chrome now to the latest version now (TOOLS / ABOUT CHROME) and will report if that resolves the issue. If not, I’ll attach a screenshot.  Chrome is my favorite browser , and am love with the GetNoticed! post types :)

          • http://www.junesjournal.com/ June

Guess what, updating my browser resolved it!  Unless Andrew did something.  Chrome is supposed to upgrade automatically but every couple of months I go to TOOLS / ABOUT CHROME and begins an upgrade process.  Now it says I’m on Version 23.0.1271.64 m.  The buttons are no longer wrapping.  But of course what about other Chrome readers who don’t know to upgrade their browser.  Thanks for passing the info along!

          • http://www.stormyfrog.com/ Andrew Buckman

Even though it’s working now, would you mind just saying a quick hello on this form for us?  http://michaelhyatt.com/issues

I was unable to replicate your issue in the version of Chrome you were originally using so I’m curious about the rest of your setup.

            Thanks for your report!

          • http://www.junesjournal.com/ June

Done!   I filled it out when you asked five days ago, and I’m just stopping back by to say you guys have built a great theme and I’m looking forward to trying it out.  Take care & have a blessed night.

  • Alan

This would be great! I’ve been looking for a WP theme that meets your criteria and which has a good appearance.

What do you expect to be the cost?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

We haven’t settled on the cost yet. I’m sure it will be comparable to other premium themes.

      • http://www.toddliles.com/ Todd Liles

Settle on the cost. Charge me too much, and give back later. Use me as a test subject. I want it.

        • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

          I like your spirit!

          • http://profiles.google.com/p31.rachel Rachel Olsen

I agree with Todd. I am planning to redo my site next month in preparation for a book launching the end of this year. Now I want GETNOTICED! Make me a beta tester. Or launch it quickly and charge me too much.  I just want … and fast.

          • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

If you want to be considered for our beta program, please sign-up on the form at the bottom of the post. We will issue invitations to that list first. Note: signing up here does not guarantee a slot in the beta program. We will be limiting the number of participants, so that we can adequately support them. Thanks for your interest!

          • http://profiles.google.com/p31.rachel Rachel Olsen

I did that as soon as I reached the bottom of the post. I couldn’t type my name in that box fast enough! Thanks for creating a theme with writers/speakers/artists in mind.

          • http://www.brandongilliland.com/ Brandon Gilliland

             Awesome! I signed up!

          • Mike

I’m in agreement with Todd, price it high and give back later. I’m just starting out and was going to use what’s mentioned in the book, search for a premium, or even pay someone to develop my site. I would rather wait then want to change after starting. Signed up.

          • http://www.mindandmouth.com/ Ibukun Onitiju

Hi Michael… This is interesting just 2 weeks ago, I started redesigning my blog to look exactly like yours. It has been a slow process.. so I was thinking I would get a designer and say.. go to http://www.michaelhyatt.com and replicate.. lol.. So reading this today is answered prayers. I’ve learnt to follow hard..

          • http://www.alansalls.com/ Alan Salls

I would love to test it too.  I am in the process of getting a Christian Inspiration blog going.  Either way, I’d like to purchase it when it becomes available!  Thanks………..

        • http://www.sociallysorted.com.au Donna Moritz

          love it Todd!

        • http://www.whiteboardbusiness.com/ Dallon Christensen

I’m with Todd, Michael. I would love to be a test case and will pay ahead of time. I have a new website for a certification review course that is tailor-made for the “mini-posts” this theme has to offer.

  • gerri50

GetNoticed looks like it will be a winner! Can’t wait to see everything it has to offer.

  • http://www.coolpeoplecare.org Sam Davidson

    Two words: Brilliant. Finally.

Thanks for initiating this. I think it will be a big winner for those building a personal brand.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

      Thanks. That is my hope!

    • http://www.brandongilliland.com/ Brandon Gilliland

I agree! I would really love to have this theme for my blog!

  • http://www.dwaynes--world.blogspot.com Dwayne Morris

You just made my day! I’m am planning an upgrade to my blog and this will streamline that process! I appreciate your continuous efforts to help others succeed. You are a great model for people like myself who are trying to figure out how to leverage their lives for the good of others.  Thanks!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

      Thanks, DeWayne. I appreciate that.

    • http://www.themakegoodchoicesproject.org/ Michael Hawkins

      Well-said Dwayne.

Michael Hyatt IS a great role model and resource for those of us that want to take things to a new level.  : – )

      • http://www.dwaynes--world.blogspot.com Dwayne Morris

To borrow Maxwell’s term, MH is a Lid-Lifter!!!

  • johnfulwider

Exciting. What a gift to your community.

Will this be a child theme for Standard Theme? I hope so.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Bo, I’m afraid not. Is it’s own theme, written from the ground up.

      • johnfulwider

I’ll buy it anyway. I’d love to be included in the beta.

  • Michael

It looks great though I’m not seeing any sidebar. I feel like I’m missing something. I am on an iPad though and maybe that is the issue.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

As a responsive theme, things move around according to the size of the device you are using. All the sidebar items are under the post. Thanks.

      • Michael

Now I get it. Looks great on my iPhone btw. So many blogs don’t

      • http://www.jackiebledsoe.com/ jbledsoejr

What about the “top bar” items, or menu and category items?

Will they disappear on the mobile platform?

I don’t see all of the options you have on your blog (while viewing from a laptop) like Advertising, etc.

        • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

The short answer is that it depends on how we code the theme. Right now, you see the menu items on the iPad but not the iPhone.

          • http://www.jackiebledsoe.com/ jbledsoejr

I am viewing on my Android smartphone right now. It looks and feels great.

I have never spent this much time on your site via mobile.

  • http://www.facebook.com/JoeAbrahamLive Joe Abraham

Wow! It’s simply grand! Congratulations, Michael! I am looking forward to the release. I saw this template change earlier today and was about to ask you about it and then, here comes the post :)

    • http://www.MicheleCushatt.com/ Michele Cushatt

That MH, he’s always one step ahead … ;)

      • http://www.facebook.com/JoeAbrahamLive Joe Abraham

        :)

  • http://www.bendempsey.net/ Ben Dempsey

How do you get involved with launch team. I would love to help in any way possible. Love the feel of your site!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I will invite the people who sign up for notifications above first. Then I will announce it on my blog. Thanks.

    • http://www.jeffrandleman.com Jeff Randleman

Ditto! I would be interested in being a part of that team as well.

  • Berkmanfam

I would like to be notified when your “Get Noticed” theme is released.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Great. Just enter your name and e-mail in the form above. Thanks.

  • Ellen Lambert

It’d take me years to get there!  I am always so moved by how generous you are in sharing you experience, talent, and knowledge.  It’s not enough that you do well and are successful, you do all the heavy lifting and then turn around and lift others up with you.  What a witness.  I applaud loudly for your efforts.  Can’t wait to get my copy of this!

    • http://www.MicheleCushatt.com/ Michele Cushatt

It’s inspiring, isn’t it Ellen? Challenges me to be more other-focused and generous myself.

  • Pat

    Micael,

Looking forward to the launch but I did not see the sign up in the email I got

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Sorry about that. You have to sign-up on my actual blog site. The form didn’t come through via e-mail.

  • Pat

    Michael,

Looking forward to the launch but I did not find  where I need to sign up in the email announcement.

    Thanks

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I should have included a link to click-through. You have to sign up in the web form on my actual blog site.

  • http://noahfleming.com/ Noah Fleming

Pretty cool Michael. Always been a fan of your site’s look.

  • http://successbeginstoday.org/wordpress John Richardson

Looks great, Michael. I think you have addressed many of the features that are missing on many popular blog templates. I’m sure it will be very successful. Hopefully the support end doesn’t get to crazy for you and your team.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

      We’re hoping that too!

  • DaveFergy

    Can’t wait!

  • http://www.toddliles.com/ Todd Liles

I love it, and want it. I saw it last night and was instantly blown away.

  • http://John.do John Saddington

Congrats Michael! It’s been great to see you grow your own platform into software! Rooting for you!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks, John. I will continue to recommend Standard Theme to those who don’t need the bells and whistles we offer. You have a great product.

  • http://blessingmpofu.com/ Blessing Mpofu

Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to its public release.

  • Michelle

Looks sharp and user friendly. I favor a first page option prompting the visitor to click and move forward. In the spirit of blogging this may not be feasible. I am looking for options right now.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I’m not sure what you mean. Could you elaborate?

      • http://rodpitts.wordpress.com/ Rod Pitts

I believe she may be speaking about a type of “landing page”.

  • William Anderson

Sounds like a great idea for a theme! I am a missionary and I have been looking for something that is clean, simple and allows me to share about me and my ministry in Romania. One possible suggestion would be to have a way for people to donate to non-profits and people like me.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks, William. We will consider that. Have you searched for a plugin that works with WordPress for that? Just curious if there is one you like. Thanks.

      • William Anderson

I have not used WordPress as of yet but have been looking at doing so for some time. What you shared about your theme caught my eye and I do want to check it out. I am at the very beginning of planting another church and in addition I teach occasionally at workshops, conferences, other churches and schools so your theme may be just the thing I need.

      • http://TillerFamily.org/ John Tiller

This is the biggest issue on our non-profit site.  We would love to have an easy-to-use plug-in that accepts both recurring and one-time donations, but haven’t found one yet.

  • http://sparkvoice.wordpress.com/ DS

Michael – the new theme has a much more crisp feel to it graphically – with one exception.  The ribbon over your e-book and email sign-up looks a little dated.

    Otherwise it is visually stunning.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks for your input. Any suggestions? I am wide-open.

      • http://sparkvoice.wordpress.com/ DS

I think maybe softer edges on the ribbon, could be a soft fade at the edges.  Perhaps even a two-tone outline similar to the MH logo.  Can it be enhanced to look more 3-D?

        • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

          Okay, thanks. We’ll consider that.

  • IncomeForMinistry

This is awesome! I was so excited to read that you created with your team a WP theme like yours. One question though I was wondering where we sign up to be notified when it’s ready? I did not see the link for that. When is the estemated lauch month are you able to share that? Thanks,Dustin!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Unfortunately, the form did not come through on the e-mail or RSS. My bad. I should have included a note that you have to click-through to the actual post on my blog. There you will find the form and can sign-up. Thanks.

      • IncomeForMinistry

ok great i signed up for the updates. I would also like to be apart of the beta testing too if you still have space.  I have my own non-profit ministry called Defining Moments and would love to revamp and rebrand the website. http://www.DefiningMoments.TV check it out when you get a chance. I know you are super busy so I understand if you dont.

  • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

    Thanks for your kind words!

  • http://www.jmlalonde.com Joe Lalonde

It’s a beautiful design Michael. Can’t wait to see how other will begin using it. Will Get Noticed be able to use Child Themes?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Great question, Joe. I am forwarding to Andrew to answer. I don’t really know. Thanks.

      • http://www.jmlalonde.com Joe Lalonde

Thanks for getting the question to Andrew. Looks like the answer is yes!

    • http://www.stormyfrog.com/ Andrew Buckman

Yes, the plan is that you should be able to use it as a parent.

      • http://www.jmlalonde.com Joe Lalonde

Nice. It makes it so much easier to update the parent theme when you’re able to save all/most of the customization work and easily reapply them once the upgrade is done.

  • http://drhambrick.com/ Paul F. Hambrick III

Great looking theme. I love the packaged features and widgets. Worth the Follow Me widget alone. I simply can’t find a similar widget in the WP marketplace that meets my desires. Looking forward to the release.

  • Dennis

Michael, love the theme and looking forward to the release.  Thanks!

  • Carolaround

I think this is a wonderful idea. I have some questions for you. I currently have a blog  powered by WordPress. I don’t want to lose all of my blog posts. Will there be a way to convert from my current layout to the new one?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Absolutely. That’s the beauty of WordPress. When you switch themes, it only affects the design (and functionality in some cases). It does not affect the content.

  • http://twitter.com/JToddRandolph Todd Randolph

    Michael,

I really like what I am seeing with this theme.  Looking forward to hearing more.

  • Allen Marsh

You have a great clean theme.  I have not started my blog yet, but it is part of my 2013 goals.  Thank you for all you do for aspiring leaders.

  • http://www.themakegoodchoicesproject.org/ Michael Hawkins

In a word:  “AWESOME!”  And timely too.  I was just surfing the web for a new and different theme last night and this morning.  (I’m glad I didn’t buy anything!)

Your “old” theme was top-notch; this one is over-the-top!  I especially like the the Social Sidebar for each post.  Sweet!

I’ve signed up for future notifications.

    Very cool, Michael. Very cool.

  • http://twitter.com/Millmissionary Mark E. Randall

Thanks Michael. I signed up and look forward to helping you as much as possible! Keep up the great work. This looks awesome! Mark

  • Aaron

Excellent! I’ve noticed the discussion in the Standard Theme forums with a desire to have a look similar to yours. Great idea. Look forward to seeing the finished product!

  • http://TillerFamily.org/ John Tiller

Michael,  This is a Homerun!   Having your practical expertise and this active community of users behind the theme will make it a uniquely successful product.  Brilliant!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks, John. I appreciate all you do to serve this community.

  • http://twitter.com/sparrowlight Caroline Niziol

Awesome! Can’t wait to hear more!

  • Jim Harris

I love the look of this.  Do you think it would work for an artist?  I’ve been looking for a theme that I could use for my wood sculpture and paintings and none of them worked.  Your style spoke to your community while giving them a call to action.  Most themes built for artists only showcase the work.  I want to be able to talk about my art and enteract with my community about what speaks to them.  This looks like it could work.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I think it could, but only you can decide, based on what you want you want to accomplish. Thanks for your interest!

  • http://twitter.com/carlthomas carl thomas

There go all the “How do I make it look like Michael Hyatt’s” threads on the 8bit forums.

    • http://www.themakegoodchoicesproject.org/ Michael Hawkins

What’s the saying?  “Find a need and fill it?”  Yep.  I think that’s the one.

  • http://www.andersgerdmar.com/ Anders Gerdmar

This sounds terrific to me! I’ve been shopping around for a new theme and these seems to fit me. I haven’t seen any that is that tailored for a personal blog as you suggest!
Thanks for all you are doing!! It has given me a lot of inspiration and strategy!

  • Kent Faver

Love the theme Michael – very clean, great layout.  I think my initial favorite feature is the Social Sharebar – very clean and inviting.  Well done!

  • http://blog.cyberquill.com/ Cyberquill

For my taste, the head sticking out at the top left looks too much like a cardboard cutout.

    • http://www.thedailyretort.com/ TorConstantino

I actually kind of like it – the drop shadow adds a 3D effect to a 2D surface. Additionally, I think it’s a unique treatment to the “tired” headshots that EVERYone uses (myself included)….

      • http://www.jackiebledsoe.com/ jbledsoejr

I like it as well. A past site of mine we were hoping to create something just like that, but were unable to get the 3D effect to look like I wanted.

Michael has done exactly what we were struggling to do.

      • http://blog.cyberquill.com/ Cyberquill

I don’t know. I preferred the b/w pics that changed at every page reload.

Anyhow, a few podcasts ago, in response to a listener question, Michael briefly mentioned he’d taken a look at her website design, and perhaps that’s where the idea originated. Somehow, though, the lady’s pic does not have that cardboard-cutout-y look.

Perhaps the edges of Michael’s pic need to be finetuned, particularly the slightly jagged hair outline on the right side against the blue background. (This particular type of jagged edge usually happens as a result of setting an image’s original background to transparent, which gives it a look as if an item—in this case the head—had been cut out with a pair of nail scissors.)

  • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks, Rob. I have not thought about the bulk re-sell package but that makes total sense. Andrew and I will discuss. Thanks.

    • Tomschulte

I would also be interest in a re-sell package. Also, does this theme handle multiple Contributing Authors?

      • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Right now, the theme will handle multiple authors to the extent that WordPress does. What we don’t have is, for example, an Author or Byline Box, that pulls in the content from the User records. I doubt that will be a version 1.0 feature, but it wouldn’t be that hard to do on your own.

  • http://www.RonCantor.com/ Ron Cantor

Looks Great Michael, will bloggers be able to ‘test drive’ it to see if it fits their needs?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

There’s no real way to do that. But we will have a detailed sales page that details all the features. We will also offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.

      • http://www.RonCantor.com/ Ron Cantor

        Thanks Michael. Blessings.

  • http://jonprice.info/ Jon Price

Sounds Great Michael! I’ve been listening to your podcasts and reading your posts thinking – I’ve got to get deliberate about this. My blog is definitely in need of an overhaul so this comes at a great time. Please let me know when this comes out.

  • Kelly Black

Love it!  Your site is fantastic and I have been trying to figure out what theme you were using for awhile now.  Good to know I can stop searching and wait for the your launch!  Thanks for always providing such great content.  You are a blessing to us all!

  • http://twitter.com/mrmarkmcdonald Mark McDonald

Whilst I can see the differences it still looks like “Michael Hyatt” which shows all of us that you are keeping on brand.  You constantly role model for us how to build a platform, you don’t just tell us.  Many other people would have just rolled out a new look without welcoming in their followers to the back story.  Well done.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks, Mark. I feel a real obligation to keep my community informed.

  • John

    Michael,
Fantastic News!  I was one of many whom took action to get my WP Blog up based on your recent  Launching a WordPress Blog in 20 Minutes or Less . Thank You for keeping it simple.  I am  Absolutely In  – thank you for all you do.

  • http://twitter.com/cchowds Chris Chowdhury

When will the theme be available?! Looks great!

This is an answer to prayer.  Might seem overstated, but it’s not (long story). Hopefully all these comments will give Andrew the encouragement to FINISH STRONG!  I, for one, will be lined up out in front of the store the night before launch.

  • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

    Thanks, Abe.

If there’s one thing I have learned about software development, it’s never promise a delivery date!
We are shooting for the end of the calendar year. It all depends on how the beta test goes. Thanks.

  • Susan

I’m in the middle of redesigning a website, have decided to go with WordPress and now I see your post – I’m interested! Will it have a shopping cart?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

No, I’m afraid it won’t. However, there are plenty of robust plugins available.

  • ChadMillerBlog

What an incredible gift to your tribe. Your site is one on a very short list of layouts that really grabs my attention. I tyically use Google Reader for all of my content reading, but always click over to your site.
Very excititing announcement! Can’t wait for the rollout.

  • http://chasinggoodness.com/ Robyn

I could not be more excited! I have truly loved your template since I started reading your blog. As a matter of fact when I just went thru re-doing my blog – I looke high a low for a  template like yours! Thank you – I can’t wait!

  • http://twitter.com/JoyVanOeffelen Joy Martinez

    Can’t wait – thank you!!!

  • http://juliesunne.com/ Julie Sunne

Great timing, Michael. I’m looking to roll over into WordPress.org soon. I may just wait until your theme is launched. I’m excited to have access to such wonderful features without the hassle of searching them out. Thanks again for freely sharing your expertise.

    • http://www.MicheleCushatt.com/ Michele Cushatt

      You’ll love WP, Julie.

  • http://www.robsorbo.com/p/welcome-from-disqus.html Rob Sorbo

Looks great on Android. Sounds like the full package! If I ever get back into blogging then it sounds like a great theme to try.

  • Mary Anne Hipp

Michael, I am a retired educator and administrator who stays in the loop of educational reform by leading accreditation teams for an international accreditation organization.  I also serve as Vice President of a Board of Directors for an amazing private school in the Caribbean.  As the owner of that school launches new community efforts including programs for the needy, it is rewarding to see much of what you believe and share being implemented.  I am very interested in your new launch!

  • http://twitter.com/StuMcLaren Stu McLaren

    Can you feel that @mhyatt:disqus?

Excitement is in the air :)

I’ve always admired the clean look of your site and can’t wait to grab a copy when it’s available.  Kudos to you, Andrew and the rest of your team for working hard to put this together.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I do feel it, Stu. Thanks for dropping by.

    • http://theordainedbarista.com/ Barry Hill

       I feel it! No doubt!

  • http://about.me/revchadbrooks chadbrooks

I have been waiting for several month to move over to wordpress from typepad and my main hangup was an issue of templates.

This just sealed the deal. I will be moving over and using this template. Thanks Michael for always focusing on sharing and making a better community.

I would love to be on the beta level!

  • http://ClayWrites.com/ Clay Morgan

Cool. Tempting. Ugh. More decisions. I’ve been attempting to live in denial about the mobile user experience. Sure it matters but as long as I don’t investigate I can delude myself into thinking it’s perfect. I love my theme but you have a great product here. Congrats on that by the way! Innovation rules.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I felt the same way about mobile. For months I dismissed it, thinking it was only a small percentage of users. Andrew convinced me otherwise with hard data.

  • http://theordainedbarista.com/ Barry Hill

As upgrades (new releases) are made to the theme will you be able to download the upgrades—for free—as a paying theme holder? I think many themes (like simple theme) do it that way.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

You’re way ahead of us. We haven’t thought that far ahead. We are not sure of pricing or what that will include.

  • http://theordainedbarista.com/ Barry Hill

I really love the mini-post formatting idea! Really great!

  • Rashaan Mateen

This is only what I’ve been looking for desperately. Michael Hyatt always come through in the clutch for me. Simply amazing

  • http://twitter.com/bloggingfreak Mike Cowles

Hey Michael, The theme looks great. Looking forward to finding out more about the functionality and pricing.

  • http://twitter.com/DonyaDunlap Donya M Dunlap

I was just searching yesterday for a theme that I liked better than the free one I have and I couldn’t find one. Then you just dropped one in my email! This is great news!

  • http://twitter.com/bloggingfreak Mike Cowles

    Looks great.

  • http://twitter.com/CrystalCaro1 Crystal Caro

Ah, I read Platform and followed your 20 minutes to self-hosted blog screencast. And just paid $99 for Standard Theme and support this weekend. Maybe my reward for keeping myself on a regular blogging schedule for a couple of months will be an update to your new theme!

Also, for your consideration in the development- can you add a few “easy” design-it-yourself custom widgets? I took your book advice to know how to do some of the tech myself so I spent 8 hours for what I thought would take 5 minutes- making custom buttons for the navigation menu (hint- image map the header photo). I still can’t hide the Standard navigation bar though. I spent the money on a logo design but not a full blog design. I would think a theme would be wildly popular if it the average person could have a sleek professional frame with a couple of minor tweaks like making custom navigation buttons. [i.e. creating an image or word picture in Picassa and using it as the look of the button with no coding.] Or being able to change the blog post title font for branding.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks for your input, Crystal. We will add this to our list. Some of it, is already built in to the theme.

  • http://www.tnealtarver.wordpress.com TNeal

Too bad it wasn’t available over the summer. I’d have been interested in having it set up and going before the writer’s conference  next week (see you there, btw).

I know I like what you’ve done on your website and have referred to it in working on my current project.

  • Shared Life CC

Fantastic! I’m using your principles to launch a non-traditional church for people far from God and would never darken a church’s doors. I hope this will help build up and communicate to my tribe.

  • Heman Smith

Michael, sign me up!  This will save me loads of time.  I’m re-launching my business this fall and have been spending time trying to “re-create” what I’ve experienced on your site – in another template framework.  Tough to do.  Especially when you have it settled and functional for the right outcome.

Thanks for building such a superb platform yourself, mentoring us via example and the book, and now making the technology construct available.

  • http://www.jackiebledsoe.com/ jbledsoejr

Yaaay…oooh nooo!  I have been using a free theme and decided it is now time to upgrade to a premium theme.  Had 3 I researched…narrowed down to 2…leaning toward 1.  Now GetNoticed! is coming, and I’m back to the drawing board!  LOL

I guess this means I will wait to learn more about your theme before making my decision.  Thanks for this Micheal! *sarcasm (I’m kidding). :)

Seriously, this is GREAT! I have always loved your blog, the design, the functionality, and of course the content.  I have modeled so much of what I do from what I’ve seen and learned here.

I am looking forward to seeing what GetNoticed! has to offer.  I’m getting on the list and hopefully will be chosen for the launch team.

  • http://www.joshuarivers.net/ Joshua Rivers

This sounds great! Can’t for it to come out. I am a beginner/intermediate developer, and would
love to be a beta tester and/or on the launch team. I would use the theme to improve my Dedicated Discipleship blog (about leadership, education, personal growth, and training).

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks, Joshua. We will invite those that signup to participate in the beta test first. However, it will likely be limited to a small number for the first round. We don’t want to have more people than we can support. I hope you make it in!

  • Tim Bistline

If you’d like to be notified when the theme is released. Please sign me up! I loved the book and was inspired and challenged by it and have already put ideas into application mode. Thanks for your efforts and passion around this leadership issue. Be blessed… Tim BistlineFirst Name: TimEmail Address: tcbistline@mac.com

  • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks, Peter. I do appreciate your input.

  • John Jolley

Do you happen to have a general sense of timing? I just set up my hosted site (thanks to your 20 minute video) with Blue Host and still have to select my theme. This could be perfect timing!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

The only thing we are saying now is ”by the end of the calendar year.” It could be sooner, but it depends on how the beta testing goes. Thanks.

  • http://www.CharlesSpecht.com/ Charles Specht

Wow, I noticed the change yesterday but had no idea this was a proprietary template!

Is it based on the Genesis framework or Standard Theme?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Neither. We wrote it from the ground up. Thanks.

  • Star

Sure, happy to be a beta-tester

  • http://www.tonyjalicea.com Tony J. Alicea

I’m in the process of redesigning and was planning to go with the Genesis theme. This announcement just stopped me in my tracks.

Anything you want to add to sell me on this rather than Genesis? When do you plan to release this to the public?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

We are hoping by the end of the year, perhaps sooner, depending on how the testing goes. The major advantage of this theme is that it is more narrowly focused on those trying to build a personal brand, providing the tools and functionality necessary to do that.

  • http://www.nickcerda.org/ Nick Cerda

I’m excited to see what this theme looks like.  (Although slightly disappointed since I just did a full revamp last week.) You always develop and promote high quality  products.

  • Graham Salisbury

    Brilliant, Michael. Thank you!

  • Caron Goode

Hi Michael – a wonderful clean look. I am in. Thanks for making it easy!

  • http://www.tracyleejones.com/ Tracy

wow- just stumbled across your site when i googled “how to video skype interview” this looks fantastic!  i signed up for your blog and would LOVE to swap my site http://www.tracyleejones.com when your theme is ready!

my only concern is video- since things are moving more toward video- will there be an option to embed a video in the opt-in box (instead of just a graphic?).  Does the blog support pictures, audio, and video?  Thanks!!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I haven’t thought about video in the promo box, but that makes total sense. I am copying Andrew on this reply, so we can add it to the idea list. The theme does support pictures, videos, slides, etc. (Click on some of the links above to the mini-posts.) Thanks.

      • Heman Smith

Michael, this is a desired feature I’d also love to have.  I plan to use video extensively.  Thanks!

      • http://www.tracyleejones.com/ Tracy

AWESOME!! Love the response time Michael! Looking forward to upgrading my site (again) ;)

        • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

          Approve.

      • http://www.tracyleejones.com/ Tracy

I just went back and looked at all the mini-post options- SOOOO EXCITED!!! This is PERFECT for creating quick content…You have created something beyond what I could have ever dreamed of to take my brand to the next level.  THRILLING!!!!  WOOT!!!!  Thank YOU!!

  • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I am not sure yet. We are still working through it. I agree that the excerpts are not as helpful, though I like the look of them better.

  • Billy Tayor

Michael, love the new look. I am very interested in the new theme. This may have already been mentioned, but one of the frustrating things about WP themes is, you see a great site, spend the money on the theme, only to find out, the “theme” is very basic, and you either need a tech guy, or you have to spend hours upon hours trying to get the boring looking theme to look great.
I’ll bet (could be a great survey) that most of your viewers do their own customization) I bought standard theme, but after many hours of work, it is still not where I want it to be. If you can make it look great out of the box, or provide a layman’s guide for customizing, I think you would have a winner.
Another topic of discussion might be how important is a great look, over great content. Even if you have great content, do you need the great look to get a viewing?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks, Billy. I have definitely experienced your frustration. I will likely do some screencasts on customization. That’s one of the reasons for the beta test is to find out what people really want. I want to make it easy to implement without a lot of customization.

  • Erik Johnson

    I’m in.

Thanks, MH for all your help. Our business group is using your book for our businesses (therapists, recruiters, consultants, coaches).

A thought did cross my mind, however. If 10,000,000 people sign up you’ll need a new uber platform to help a select few to rise to the top of that pile, and then another platform to help them rise above that. You’ve got job security :)

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

That’s pretty funny. The more noise I create, the more you need to know how to take your platform to the next level to get heard. I’m going to use that!

  • http://www.andytraub.com/ Andy Traub

The fact is that most people don’t want this theme right now. They wanted it months ago! 95% of people with sites are unsatisfied with how it looks so the sooner the better Mike. Thanks for developing it. I’ve opted in to the Launch Team!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks, Andy! I appreciate your encouragement to ship. This is a case of shipping before it was perfect, but, at some point, you have to shove it out the door!

      • http://www.andytraub.com/ Andy Traub

Perfect is a myth and often an excuse for not shipping. You’re right to put it out and let people start to improve it in the wild. The tribe will understand. None of us are perfect either remember?

  • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

    Thank you.

By the way, the videos are working fine here on both Chrome and Safari. I am copying Andrew, so he can make sure this isn’t some other issue.

  • Culturechanger4life

I am in the process of developing my website now, so this is perfect timing! Thank you for your willingness to set us up for success. I absolutely loved your book and look forward to putting all of your recommendations and lessons learned into practice!

  • http://m1p.org/ Greg Simas

I feel like this theme is like when Apple introduced the iPhone to the mobile  smart phone market. People have been making premium WordPress themes for years and then someone takes the initiative and makes one that lifts the bar to a new level. Wow. Really looking forward to this one.

  • http://www.nickcerda.org/ Nick Cerda

I promise I’m not trying to spam your site. I just want to make sure I get the updates. As usual your theme looks great. It pops at the places you want eyes to go and really highlights you and your products.

While I’m slightly disappointed since I did a complete revamp of my site last week based on resources from your site I’m excited to see the user features of this product. Thanks for keeping it fresh and engaging.

  • http://www.kathrynlang.com/ Kathryn Lang

I have been considering new word press themes just this past week . . . so have you been sneaking a look at my journal?  I am excited to see how this theme can help me take my platform to the next level.

    • http://www.thedailyretort.com/ TorConstantino

Your timing seems to be impeccable Kathryn – it looks like Michael has developed a Cadillac (I’m biased toward U.S. auto manufacturers) theme for personal branding!

  • http://www.bobarron.com/ Bo Barron, CCIM

This is absolutely brilliant.  I can’t wait to get my hands on it.  What a great way to continue to add value and monetize your following…and we’ll love you for it!

  • http://www.MicheleCushatt.com/ Michele Cushatt

     Great suggestion, Rob.

  • http://michellesteinbeck.com/ Michelle Steinbeck

I created my blog ‘finally’ after years of wanting to when I was first introduced to your site Michael.  To think that I could save all the time and catch up in the theme is an amazing opportunity.  What you give comes back to you in so many ways, be ready to receive after this generous step in making the theme available.

  • http://cmleejr.com/ C. M. Lee, Jr.

Definitely excited about this one! You’ve got me! Im in!

  • http://www.40PlusFabulosity.com/ Felicia

    Yes I want the Get Noticed theme!! Didn’t see where to get on the notification list though (-;

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

  • http://www.jackiebledsoe.com/ jbledsoejr

Yaaay…oooh nooo!  I recently decided to upgrade my free theme to a premium theme.   Had 3 “finalist”…narrowed it to 2…leaning heavily toward 1.   Now GetNoticed! is coming!  Thanks Michael! *sarcasm (only kidding).

Seriously, this is GREAT!  I love your blog, the design, the functionality, and of course, the content!  Now, I will just have to wait a little longer to evaluate GetNoticed!

I would love to join the launch team.  I will be throwing my name into the hat and hoping (fingers crossed, praying, throwing not so suttle hints).  :)  Signing up now!

Thanks Michael I look forward to hearing more!

    • http://www.thedailyretort.com/ TorConstantino

Jackie, I agree that there is a TON of functionality in the GetNoticed! them – I’m looking forward to implementing it myself!

      • http://www.jackiebledsoe.com/ jbledsoejr

Do you think you can get Michael to hurry up with the release?? :)

  • http://www.matthewreedcoaching.com/ Matthew Reed

GREAT work here @mhyatt:disqus . I appreciate that you’ve created something so helpful to your platform devotees. I’d be interested in hearing how easy it is to create different color palettes and font designs within the template so all of us don’t end up with a carbon copy of each other.

  • kimkmartinez

Very clean – and perfect timing as I’m trying to take my blog to the next level! Thanks for all your work!

  • http://www.danerickson.net/ Dan Erickson

Sounds great, Michael.  You’ve made your site look very readable without being over-cluttered or having too many bells and whistles.  However, if hundreds of others use the same theme, yours will lose some originality.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Maybe. But I am willing to share.

My guess is that my blog will always include some bells and whistles we haven’t yet released in the theme. Kind of like the version of Keynote that Steve Jobs used and the one you and I use.
Besides that, the real distinctive is in the content. That’s where I really want to add value.

      • http://www.danerickson.net/ Dan Erickson

I agree with your logic here.  Sharing is one way to draw others to you.  And the content is the most important part.

  • http://www.ericamcneal.com/ Erica McNeal

Awesome. What a great idea Mike. I’ll be looking forward to updates. In the next few months I am planning to re-haul my site. =)

  • Rob

Thanks for the  WordPress theme. It looks great and I would love to be informed when it is being rolled out. Communication is the catalyst every great idea needs in order to become reality and change lives! Keep on being a voice of quality ethical change in a world in need of direction.

  • MimiJ319

    Mobile support. Awesome!

  • http://jonstolpe.com/ Jon Stolpe

Sounds and looks like a great product.  I’d be interested in hearing more about your launch team!

  • Pamela

    Hello Mr. Hyatt,
I’ve been following your posts with the intention of starting a blog soon. Should I wait until the new theme is ready or start one now and then convert?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I would go ahead and start one. The content will always serve you regardless of the theme.

  • http://m1p.org/ Greg Simas

Will the Featured Image capability (rather than inserting an actual photo  into a post) be an option for  the main image in our blog posts? Hope this makes sense. ;)

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

      I’m sorry, I don’t understand.

    • http://www.stormyfrog.com/ Andrew Buckman

Possibly.  Michael doesn’t operate this way, but I have done that in the past for people.  Good suggestion for an option, thanks.

  • http://somewiseguy.com/ ThatGuyKC

This is awesome! I’ve been a loyal reader for awhile and wanted to emulate some of the features of your blog, but I’m not a developer. Excited for the opportunity to possibly try it out.

  • http://somewiseguy.com/ ThatGuyKC

As a long time Standard Theme champion I’m curious why you decided to go w/ having your own developed?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I found that I had commissioned a lot of custom code in the last two years to make my blog do things I needed done. After releasing my book and hearing from so many readers, I came to the conclusion that my needs weren’t unique and others could benefit from the tools Andrew and I had developed. We didn’t decide to do this until July.

      • http://somewiseguy.com/ ThatGuyKC

Thank you for the explanation, Michael. I think it will be a good revenue stream for you. Good luck w/ the launch. I signed up to be considered for the beta.

  • Ryan Parker

Thanks for doing this Michael. I think it’s going to be awesome. My site is looking too cluttered and pieced together and I am using the standard theme. I need to pair it down a bit, and learn to do a bit of coding I guess? Clean and simple is what I’m striving for. LOVE the book and the blog/podcasts. Be well!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Hopefully, you won’t have to do any coding with GetNoticed! We want it to be simple to use, so you can stay focused on building your platform.

  • Doug Ross

Sounds like a great idea – and hopefully user friendly

  • Sugna7

Ask to be included in the beta test.  Currently am launching a site designed in WordPress and your theme will couple nicely into site our business.

  • http://donabumgarner.typepad.com/ Doña B

Exciting news!  I’m putting together a new blog and was looking at the Standard theme but still needed a handful of plugins to do all the things I need.  Your new theme almost exactly matches my wish list (and adds a couple things I didn’t know I wanted!).  My name is on your notification list now.  I worked as a software tester at Apple for many years and am trained well to give useable feedback.  I hope I can help with your beta testing!

  • http://www.mattmcwilliams.com/ Matt McWilliams

Wow Michael. The word “epic” doesn’t quite describe this.

You are the reason I use Standard Theme now. I cannot wait for this one to come out!

  • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

Awesome step Michael. I noticed the difference earlier when I looked up an old post…thought my laptop had issues :)

Will the theme have other color options?

  • Csheren

When does this theme come out? I want to get it! :)

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

We haven’t announced a release date yet. Stay tuned.

  • Jim Martin

This is exciting news, Michael!  I really like the features that you have included in this theme.  I look forward to it being released

  • http://www.beforethecross.com/ Mike Mobley

I absolutely LOVE this new theme!  Would love to be considered to be on the launch team.  Currently using Standard over at beforethecross.com

    Great work!

  • prcrouch

    This looks really cool!

  • http://www.CharlesSpecht.com/ Charles Specht

Michael, I also notice that you removed 3rd party advertisements (Buy/Sell) from the sidebar. Was this on purpose? Do you plan to continue offering advertising opportunities?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Yes, this was on purpose. I have my own products to promote now. Plus, I feel like there is more affinity for my readers. Thanks.

      • http://www.CharlesSpecht.com/ Charles Specht

Yes, you have developed some wonderful and highly sought after products. They will no doubt serve you well on their own.

It must have been a tough decision, however. I assume those Ads were generating around $50,000 – $60,000 a year in income? Can’t wait until I have to make a similar decision. Sigh…  ;-)

        • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

It’s a good place to be.

To often peopled don’t move to the next level simply because they are unwilling to prune what they have. You can’t get more of what you want unless you are willing to give up what you no longer need.

          • http://www.CharlesSpecht.com/ Charles Specht

Yes, it is difficult to bear more fruit unless you first prune what has already grown on the branch. Then you’ll bear more fruit, just like what Jesus said. ;-)

      • http://www.jackiebledsoe.com/ jbledsoejr

Aha! That is why I did not see your “Advertising” option at the top.

Love it! Very smart. You continue to keep moving forward. I like that about you & your platform.

Btw…your mobile platform is AWESOME! I have never spent this much time on your site via mobile.

I can see this becoming a habit. :)

  • http://www.beforethecross.com/ Mike Mobley

On the ‘lots more’ part of this theme, does it include features like SEO Optimization?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

To a limited degree. But I use Scribe SEO and recommend that.

      • http://www.beforethecross.com/ Mike Mobley

Ok great, sounds good!  Thank you sir!

  • http://www.teritemme.com/ Teri Temme

So happy you are going to offer this theme – I had gone to your website a few weeks ago to figure out how you did it.  Very excited.

Hi Michael, my previous comment seems to have disappeared, so just wanted to say an awsome idea / WP theme,  real belts and braces and will be just what i will need as am about to do another book launch asap. My current WP blog needs a cutting edge … hopefully this it my friend!!  Can’t seem to see the sign up section though, would love to be considered as a beta tester, hope to be chosen ( if its God’s will!) Cheers Dave

Wow! I couldn’t be any more thrilled at your news Michael! This is just brilliant! I, too, have been a great fan of your blog layout design and functionalities…super excited to be considered for beta. And yes! Do charge me too much, Please! :) I’m working on several projects like mobile apps and ebooks to launch hopefully by the end of year. And of course as everyone here…I want GetNoticed!

Thank you for your dedicated work Michael…

I was about ready to move fwd w/Standard as well. Now I may wait.

You are right, it seems perfect for any blogger, publisher, etc.

“Itchy feet.” Got a real laugh out of me btw! LOL!

  • Tony States

This is fantastic Michael, I am a web developer and have
been working with WordPress for about a year, I was a software-hardware test
engineer for Hewlett-Packard a few years ago, I love the theme and would really
like to help with the beta testing!

I really like the new little tweaks you guys have done to
it. I like all the planned ideas for the widgets, they all sound very useful.
The customizable Landing Page Template is going to be a very powerful key
advantage to the theme for sure, can’t wait to try it out!

The nice big footer is also very important, Undoubtedly you
guys will make it so we can choose to put 2, 3,  4 or 5 section widgets down there based on our
    future clients needs.

I want to use it for my blog right now and I have a couple
clients that want it now too!!

    Cheers :-)

PS I posted this once already and it never showed up… so there is a tiny bug here.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Actually, it’s not a bug For some reason, Disqus categorized it as spam. I rarely get a “false positive,” but this was one.

  • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I’m not sure. This comment got quarantined too. Sometimes Disqus is like that. I have “whitelisted” you, so hopefully that doesn’t happen again. Thanks for your input.

    • Tony States

Michael, as an after thought, as a testing engineer we were asked to describe everything we did exactly! to save you any grief trying to figure out what is going on here it is!!
So what I did was typed my very first comment in Microsoft Word 2007 and then copied and pasted into your blog and that is what caused the weird text formatting issues. this is something I never do when going from MS Word to any kind of web development html editing software as the same things happen… (also the small editing window is a bit small and was not re-sizable for me which is what made it hard to try and edit my first post, I would much prefer a much bigger window!)

      • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks, Tony. Word is notorious for through a bunch of garbage into the text.
Unfortunately, Disqus is a third-party commenting system, so I don’t have much control over things like the size of the editing Window.
What browser are you using and on what platform? Thanks.

        • Tony States

I understand completely and I have The latest version of Firefox -v15 and Windows-7 Ultimate with all updates :-)

  • Joydekok57

The new WordPress theme looks great. I’d love to be notified when it’s available. Thanks!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

We’d be happy to notify you. Just signup using the form at the end of the post.

  • http://www.brandonkraft.com/ Brandon Kraft

One topic that came up among a few of us (mix of bloggers, web designers and developers) that have followed your work and this theme were wondering about support for the theme.

One of the great features of 8Bit w/ Standard or StudioPress w/ Genesis is the support to help point in the right direction when wanting to make changes not optioned in the theme.

Looking forward to seeing this roll out. I like having things like this to suggest to clients who want to build upon your idea (whether or not they’ve been to your site or read your book!)

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I agree, Brandon. Support is critical. We intend to provide that in a forum-like environment. Frankly, we don’t have that all figured out yet. Right now we are focused on just finishing the theme. However, we know that will become a high priority as we move to beta.

      • http://www.brandonkraft.com/ Brandon Kraft

Thanks, Michael. I figured that would likely be the case; just hadn’t seen mention of it in the comments I skimmed and wanted to ping the issue just to be on the safe side :-).

  • Deb

I’m creating websites for speakers and writers and want to get my hands on this theme!  Let  me know when it’s available.    It looks great!

  • http://www.sociallysorted.com.au Donna Moritz

Michael. I love your innovative mind. Wow.  This is just perfect for me (when I do my personal brand site) as well as a whole bunch of my clients who are speakers, authors, public figures. I love it. Thanks for making it easy for us all. I wanted to ask too – is this going to be what they call a “responsive” theme – ie it automatically adapts to mobiles, ipads, programs like “lujure” when you are pulling in apps to other platforms like Facebook.  No drama if it isn’t, just that it is a new technology that a few sites are taking on (as far as I can see) so it would be a huge plus if you could incorporate it.  Thanks again.  Can’t wait to check it out.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Yes, absolutely. It is currently working on all mobile platforms—albeit with a few bugs were working to eliminate now. Thanks.

    • http://www.jackiebledsoe.com/ jbledsoejr

      Hey Donna!

Not to step on Michael’s toes, but I read a comment earlier from Michael, and it will be a “responsive” theme. This makes it even better!

I am looking forward to more info and its release.

      • http://www.sociallysorted.com.au Donna Moritz

Jackie!  Hello!  Thanks – yes Michael just got back to me.  I would love to change my theme over but I just changed from Standard to Genesis…I did lose a heap of my likes, comments etc from one share platform to another, however now that I am on Disqus and Digg Digg, I will definitely look into it…after a small break between theme swaps ha ha.  I might start up my new website and “play” with some for clients and then I can definitely swap mine over.  I used a lot of your styling Michael to start up my first blog with Standard Theme, so I trust your judgement after doing this for a while!  Have a great weekend Jackie…I should have known you would be a  reader of this blog!  :o)

        • http://www.jackiebledsoe.com/ jbledsoejr

I am certain GetNoticed! is going to be awesome.  I am looking forward to it…although I was planning to “upgrade” my free theme to a premium theme within the next 30 days.  GetNoticed! will probably not be ready by then.

Can I ask why you switched to Genesis from Standard?  Those were my top two, and probably one was going to be the theme I would have chosen.

I may have to show some extreme patience now. :)

          • http://www.sociallysorted.com.au Donna Moritz

Hi Jackie – I actually moved from standard to Genesis.  Like them both but I will be seriously considering changing my current theme to this when it comes out (and just quietly I am glad it will be a bit longer than a month as I only changed a few months ago ha ha – give my web developer a break!) but I am contemplating starting a second site, so if Michael included me in Beta then I would start with his theme, and would switch over to recommending it to my clients, many of whom are public figures or bloggers (It think this works well for bloggers in general).

  • http://www.musingsofedwina.blogspot.com Edwina Cowgill

This is the best news since your book came out!  “Platform” was and still is a huge help to me. I hosted my local writers group for the video seminar “All about Books” and I think I convinced everyone to purchase the book. So, I’ll be forwarding your post about the new WordPress theme.

And if you’re looking for volunteers for the beta testing, I’m putting my name in the hat!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks! If you want to be considered for our beta program, please sign-up on the form at the bottom of the post. We will issue invitations to that list first. Note: signing up here does not guarantee a slot in the beta program. We will be limiting the number of participants, so that we can adequately support them. Thanks for your interest!

  • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Yes, absolutely. We want to enable you to make your branding statement.

  • Cheryl Nunn

Exceptional new theme Michael, hope it is affordable, would love to use it, would be honored to become a beta tester. Not a high tech nerd, but not a low tech neophyte, I think I would fit your average new theme user profile to test installation, and ease of application.

  • http://www.joeyo.org Joey O’Connor

Talk about WOW! This looks like a wonderful new tool. Since you were using Standard Theme before, will there an import feature for ST content?

I’ve learned so many great things by following your blog and applying the Platform principles. This looks like a great tool to share with many of the artists and creatives I work with who are always asking how to build their platform.

Can’t wait to see more in the days ahead…congrats on your creation and innovation.

    • http://www.beforethecross.com/ Mike Mobley

Would also like to know if an import feature for ST users.

      • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

You don’t really import themes. Your content will all still be there. Thanks.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jraitz Jason Raitz

Wow, I can’t wait! Looks great.

  • BradStanton

The theme sounds great, I hope you have a way to allow HTML code and better stats-analytics. If you make it so we can use Google analytics on it that would be great. I get heavy traffic to my blog but I can’t track it well because I can’t use Google analytics.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Yes, we will have an easy way to add your Google Analytics code.

  • http://www.brandongilliland.com/ Brandon Gilliland

This is really cool! I can’t wait to see this theme incorporated into other blogs! I am personally very interested in it.

When I first saw this theme, I was mobile. It looked great!

How long did it take to design this theme?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

We did most of it over the last 18 months. However, we started pulling it together as a stand-alone theme in July.

    Michael,

I really enjoy the way your book reviews look. Will a book review option be included in the new theme?

    Kenna

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Yep. Just as in the example above in the post. Thanks.

  • Kent Sanders

Michael, thanks for doing this. I am using the Standard theme on my own blog and have loved the design of your site. My question: is there anything the Standard theme does that your new theme won’t?  In other words, for all of us who want to build a platform and use a self-hosted Standard theme, is there any reason we shouldn’t switch to your new one?  Any important features of Standard that would be lost?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

To be honest, I haven’t compared them. I’ll have to do this at some point. Thanks.

  • http://168opportunities.com/ Peder Aadahl

I have to admit havin 14 different post types really has caught my attention! Way to go Michael this sounds like an amazing theme.

  • http://www.luismedilo.com/ Luis

I would love to see this theme. Do you already have the demo up?

  • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Yes, yes, and yes! Thanks for your interest.

  • http://www.revivallifestyle.com/ Daniel Vogler

Will you have an affiliate system for the theme? I’m working on a video class for ministers to set up a self hosted wordpress blog and would love to link to your theme!
I can’t wait for this one! Have always been a fan of your website’s design. Also I’ve been on the lookout for a widget that ads speaking engagements to the sidebar and couldn’t find any.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

We will definitely have an affiliate program when we launch it. Thanks.

I am worshiping at Cross Point Community Church in Decatur, AL and Dave Anderson, the pastor, has agreed to take me under his wing. I would like to build a relationship with Michael too. I’m really excited to dissect your theme when it comes out Michael! As an avid Standard Theme proponent, I’m sad to see you move on, but excited to see what awesome things you’ve come up with!

  • whitink

I know this theme is still in Beta, but when you view on a mobile phone there is no top navigation… actually no navigation at all. When using responsive design you really don’t want to take content away from users, just present it differently.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

We’re still working on some of this stuff and debating the design issues.

      • whitink

great to know. I’m excited to see the finished project. Love your work ad as a WP programmer I always enjoy seeing themes built with purpose.

  • Gene

This sounds like a savvy way to help reinforce your Platform. Indeed, keep me informed about your launch!

  • http://twitter.com/DonyaDunlap Donya M Dunlap

I know I commented on this yesterday, but I just have to say, I am so excited about the release of this template! I wish it was out right now. I would switch today! I have been searching for a way to combine all my life on to one site (writer, designer, speaker, abolishionist) without chaos ensuing. This site is perfect for that! I hope you get the “kinks” worked out soon!

  • Jared Balis

Wow, I love the new blog theme Michael. It’s simple and clean, like your last one. It seems tighter and put together well. I’ll consider buying it!

I manage a speaker/author and oversee his website and I have been drooling over your website for quite some time. Thanks, Jeff. We have a few more features to add to the sharebar that I think you will really like.

  • Eddie Jones

Michael, we are a small Indie press and would love to beta test this when it’s released. Do you have estimated deliver date?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

No, I am afraid we don’t. One of the things I have learned about software development is don’t promise a delivery date. Things always take longer than you think. The best thing is to sign up on the form at the end of the post. We’ll be inviting our beta testers from that pool.

  • http://www.chipdizard.com/ Chip Dizard

I just had a “oh my, that so totally fits” feeling. I just launched my website less than two weeks ago after a month of development. After shopping around quite a bit, I still had to jerry-rig a WP theme to walk hand-in-hand with your PLATFORM model.

So now the author is coming out with a Platform Theme? That totally fits. I’m signed up. Count me in as one of your most excited developers. I’m looking forward to this!

It will be available here when it is available. We have not announced a ship date yet. Hopefully, by the end of the year.

  • http://www.tracyleejones.com/ Tracy

Hi Michael, a couple more questions…

Will blog posts have an edit option to allow me to post the blog entry link to facebook and twitter by checking a box when i post to my blog (like infusionsoft has for email broadcasts)?

also, i am signed up for the launch team notices, and just wanted to confirm that the beta test group will be launched by the end of the year, so the actual launch will most likely be next year, right?

SO impressed by what you have created- am drooooooling to test!! (and inspired by how speedy your comment responses are- how DO you do it all??) ;)

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

      Thanks for your interest, Tracy.

No, we will not have the option to automatically post on Facebook and Twitter. This is on purpose. Facebook penalizes you when you post from a third-party service of any kind. You are best to produce a link yourself to your FB page. (This is what I do.) Your post will show up higher on your followers’ stream. For Twitter, there are lots of plugins for that. Again, I do it by hand.
Yes, we will invite beta testers and launch team members from the list of people who signed up to be notified.
We are hoping to beta test and launch before year end. However, we won’t know for sure until we get a little further along.
      Thanks again.

  • http://www.faithfulchoices.com/ Paula

Hi Michael, are you taking any little bitty bloggers onto your launch team, because this bitty blogger would love to GetNoticed!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

We haven’t made any decisions yet. Best thing to do is sign up for the list. We’ll let you know. Thanks.

  • http://twitter.com/RalfKaiser Ralf Kaiser

    Hi Michael,

I do love the theme just as it stands!  I have given some thought to some possible additions that could be available through alternative homepage layouts.

I would like to see a banner style optin similar to socialtrigger.com or chrisbrogan.com (the Generate theme).

These banner style forms have shown to increase optin rates quite dramatically.

By having this option through drag and drop or pre-built shortcodes could dramatically increase the application of your theme.

    Many blessings,

    Ralf

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks for your suggestion, Ralf. I am familiar with both of these sites.

  • http://twitter.com/DannyLSmith Danny Smith

Thanks for all you do Michael. I’ve been developing my strategy to move my 400+ posts from Blogger to WordPress and following your agenda as closely as possible. And THEN (LOL) you made this announcement last week. Thus, I slowed down a bit but since the timeline for this release is likely a few months, I’m probably going to go ahead and continue on with the move using Simple Theme.

My question…when you roll out GETNOTICED!, I assume it will be easily converted. Correct?

    Thanks again.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

We’re not quite sure, Danny. I don’t have a ship date yet. We want to get it right first. We don’t really know until we get through the first round of beta. Thanks.

    • http://www.timbiden.com/ Tim Biden

Danny, when you switch over and move your content to WordPress, you should 301 redirect your Blogger site to your WordPress site. That way you won’t lose any of the incoming links that you have built and so your current readers sill still know where to find you.

A 301 redirect allows anyone who goes to your old site be be automatically redirected to your new site. That way, no one loses touch with your blog.

If you google it, you can find instructions on how to do it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bobbie-Cole/100003675480465 Bobbie Cole

Hi Michael – when will I know if I made the Beta team. If I’m not on it and I want to start now, will I be able to change to your theme in a few months?

  • http://www.junesjournal.com/ June

One (of the many things) I like about your template is the different post types (article vs. link vs. announcement, etc).  I must admit that I’ve been hard pressed to find this feature pre-built into other templates.  This is so valuable for persons who want to quickly share a link or book without composing an entire article AND have the different post types look different on the homepage.   You’ll have to update your Blueshost Screencast, or create a second Screencast, showing people how to acquire and install your new template ;-)

    Good stuff!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks. I plan to do a separate tutorial on installing the template. I will also do several tutorials on customization.

Probably not unless it becomes really, crazy successful. We just don’t have the support staff for that. Thanks.

  • http://twitter.com/DanneHotchkiss D’Anne Hotchkiss

I assume you’ll offer customizable features like typefaces, colors, logo? I’d like to test because I’m just starting my blog as an early step to a larger platform, so while some day I will need to use many of the features, I don’t know what this theme will look like in the shorter term. I hope to not have to switch themes from a less expansive one to yours.

I’m definitely purchasing your get published course, and in addition I am redoing my old website and would love to beta test your theme. I’ve got a good technical background and up to now have designed and managed my own site and landing pages etc.  I feel I could give you good feedback during the beta stage. I’ve done this with the Franklin Covey group on their software and still remain a feedback consultant with them. Looking forward to hearing from you. If you take the time to review my website you’ll see little fresh content. Part of my relaunch will incorporate my story over the last two years; I was injured and my life had to got through some major adjustments, somewhat similar to your story when you broke you ankle falling down the stairs. This will be integrated into my leadership theme for my training and coaching.
Thanks again for an awesome blog. Keep up the good work…Brian Crowley

I’d love to be on the launch team. I’ve been trying to find the right theme for my blog relaunch/rebrand but haven’t found anything that was just right until now!

I’m excited to hear you are going to offer your theme. I got the “Standard Theme” that you mentioned in your book. It required a lot of css work to get it to look OK for me. Will this theme be a little more user friendly? I LOVE the look of your site and how your photos on the right sidebar can change page to page, etc. So the theme you are using now isn’t the standard one? It looks a bit like it, but a lot better. I’m excited for the launch! I had clients try to view my standard there site in I.E. and it looked horrible.

I’d be honored to be a beta tester. Keep up the great work!

    John

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

No, this is not Standard Theme. We built it from the ground up.

  • http://twitter.com/JohnPullum John Pullum

GREAT! I was really impressed with the Standard Theme …. until I bought it & realized I needed to do a lot to it to get it to work for me. I almost grew my hair back, just to pull it out to show my frustration with it. I’ve got it looking OK now, but not to where I want it. I’m looking forward to your theme.

    Wow. Seriously awesome features.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks, Jeff. I think it’s going to be awesome. I can’t wait to share it with the world (once we get through the beta cycle).

Hey Michael, when you get a chance, please watch the video on this page on how to replace the WordPress search engine with a custom Google search engine–where the search results are yielded on your WordPress website.  I think you will be very interested by the benefits described by this video blogger (the video is at the bottom of the page):  http://blog.2createawebsite.com/2012/10/01/how-to-incorporate-google-custom-search-into-wordpress/

This would be great addition to the GetNoticed! template.

    Direct link to video:  http://youtu.be/0w8jy1bYUEw

    Respectfully submitted,

    June

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks. I have passed this along to Andrew, my developer. By the way, I am using Google Custom Search here on my site now.

  • http://twitter.com/kennyholloway kennyholloway

It would be very nice to be able to “freeze” the global navigation menu so that it appears at the top at all times.

  • http://www.beforethecross.com/ Mike Mobley

A suggestion would be to make sure the social metrics carry over to single posts.  For example, if someone likes a post 52 times on Facebook, that when this theme goes live, that same single post will show 52 likes in the counter.  Just a suggestion.

    • http://www.stormyfrog.com/ Andrew Buckman

Michael. I’ve purchased Platform–outstanding book! I’m reading your blog and listening closely to your experience–tremendous! You also make brilliant and compelling use of Internet Marketing strategies & tactics. I’m using your affiliate link to grab hosting at Bluehost and I’m buying Get Published in a couple of months. (Do you get the idea I’m heading somewhere with this?) Yep…your theme–flawless! Okay, I’ve buttered you up–I do mean every word I said–but Michael, please…I’m launching a new blog and I NEED your beta theme now! How ’bout this, I’ll PAY you to be on the beta team! I’ve done beta in the past for writing software packages, I’m organized, motivated, and I DON’T want to waste my time designing my new site when I know I am DEFINITELY going to use yours when you release it. C’mon Mike, give a bro a break!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Any word on when this WordPress Theme will be released?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

No, we have not yet announced when it will release. Sorry.

Hey Michael… do you have a rough idea for when the theme will be ready? Weeks? Months?

        • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

We are hoping to ship by the end of the year. Thanks for your interest.

  • http://www.livebeyondawesome.com/ Jen McDonough “The Iron Jen”

  • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks for your interest. No news yet, but we are making progress. I am hoping to update everyone in the next several days.

This is incredible. I’ve read the book and I have struggled to get my theme to include the features that I need. One quick question. Will the colors be customizable ? My audience is primarily female.

      Yes, they will. Definitely.

    Hello Michael,

    Love your theme!

Would you suggest a content slider plugin that could be added to the top of the home page?  (and compatible with your theme).

Rather than have videos running down the side of the theme I would like to have a multimedia slider which would support video and audio.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I’m sorry, but I am not familiar with any, other than Nivo Slider, which I am running on my Speaking page. You might take a look at that.

  • Tricia

    Hello,

    Another  question,

Will your event widget also have the ability to publish dates in an international format, say  “December 4, 20012″ ?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I am not really sure. My guess is that it will allow anything WordPress will allow. Thanks.

  • Alan Fowler

I’d love to be a part of the launch team!

    Michael,

My high achiever driver personality is going nuts!  When is GN coming out?

I do have a question:   I currently use Premise Landing Pages (Not well, but I do have it.)  Will GN have the built-in functionality of Premise:  Membership Only, Opt-ins, The tie in with Mailchimp, The Ability to purchase product?

If so, I can wait.  Are you still thinking December?

    Thanks!

    Todd

PS – Your advice has been crucial for the launching of my personal blog.  You are a big blessing, thank you!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

      Patience, grasshopper. ;-)

We think the beta will ship before December 1.

We don’t plan to build membership or e-commerce into the theme. However, we will have great landing page support.
      Thanks for your enthusiasm!

    • http://rayedwards.com/about/ Ray Edwards

       Todd,

Premise is a plug-in and not a theme, so you should be able to use it with GN if you want to (for the membership and e-commerce stuff).

You might want to look at Wishlist Member for the membership functions though – much more robust. And it should also work with GN.

Just remember I’m only spouting my opinion, and I might be wrong. ;-)

  • http://twitter.com/JohnPullum John Pullum

I’m so excited for this theme to come out. Do you think it will still be coming out within a month or so?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

We’re trying to figure that out now, John. We are so close! We still believe we can ship the beta before December 1.

  • http://m1p.org/ Greg Simas

Michael or @stormyfrog:disqus are you keeping the GN theme at 960px or are you going to offer a wider size? Many themes are now going out to about 1,200px in width with bigger font sizes, around 16px. This serves the blog reader better especially in light of greater computer resolutions. Just wandering.  Also, if you still need beta testers, I’d be happy to help.  –

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks for your question, Greg. I am copying Andrew, so that he can respond.

    • http://www.stormyfrog.com/ Andrew Buckman

We’re actually already at 16px, though you can customize that in the admin area.  At this time we won’t be going up to 1200px, we currently stop at 1000px, but it’s definitely something we’ll consider adding down the road.  If someone really wanted 1200px before we supported it, they could certainly make their own adjustments in a child theme though.  Thanks!

      • http://m1p.org/ Greg Simas

Glad to see GN coming in at 1000px. This should create a bit more room for readers. Thanks for getting back to me. ;)

        • http://www.stormyfrog.com/ Andrew Buckman

Interesting update: I recently picked up a Windows 8 system for testing and am admittedly rethinking my position on expanding wider.  With the way they’re keeping people in full-screen I think this may get a lot more important.  Using a site at full-screen on a 23″ monitor is definitely an interesting experience.

It still won’t be in v1, but I moved it up on the list as something to research.

          • http://m1p.org/ Greg Simas

            Andrew,
Agreed. I know StudioPress (Brian Gardner) is moving this direction with Genesis 1.9. Also, for Standard Theme users, the guys there offer a code to add in their Child Theme to make the theme wider. Many companies are expanding wider as well.

It simply makes for a better user experience and definitely creates a Wow to the user when done right. Glad to see this moving up the depth chart on the GN theme.

    Michael,

Are you ready for hundreds of sites that look identical to yours?

It takes a confident person to give away what sets the apart.

Quick question: any plans on adding an author’s bio box at the end of a post to cater to the guest bloggers?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

It’s happening already. I’m just not being paid for it. ;-)

I think I can stay one step ahead of the pack. My site will always have those elements that we are testing before we introduce them to the production version of the theme.
Yes, we are planning to add an author box. It may not be in version 1.0. I need to go back and check. I’ve been doing it manually with HTML code.

Gone are the days of my calendar being filled with speaking events simply through the booking agency that use to handle me. I’m excited to use  your GetNoticed wordpress theme. Looks great. I use Optimize Press because of the squeeze pages, etc. Will it be compatible with it?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Honestly, I don’t know. That is the first question we have had about it.

    • http://www.stormyfrog.com/ Andrew Buckman

Looks like OptimizePress is a theme in itself, so I’m afraid not as GetNoticed! is also a theme… you can only run one theme on an individual site.

  • http://www.beforethecross.com/ Mike Mobley

I had a question on the Social Sharebar, are there more options besides what is being shown here at michaelhyatt.com?  Also, are 3 the max to show on posts besides comments, e-mail, and print?  Thanks so much!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

For version 1.0, these three are the options. You could; however, disable the one in the theme and use a third-party plugin.
