Introducing the Get Noticed! Theme for WordPress

We shipped 150 copies of our Limited Release Preview on July 15th. We will be making more copies available in the next few weeks. If you wanted to be notified, make sure you signup at the bottom of this post.

I am about to launch my own premium WordPress theme. It is called GetNoticed! and is based on the principles I share in my New York Times bestseller, Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World.

GetNoticed! Screenshot

Andrew Buckman, my web developer, and I built this theme from the ground up. Our goal was to create a theme for anyone wanting to build a personal brand. This includes authors, comedians, speakers, pastors, and corporate executives.

Here are just a few of the features we’ve baked in:

  • Fourteen different custom Mini-Postsannouncements, books, events, links, photos, slides, videos, and more. This enables you to share resources without writing a full blog post.
  • A custom Social Sharebar that not only makes it super-easy for your readers to share your posts on their favorite social networks, but also prominently displays the share counts, providing powerful social authority.

    GetNoticed! ShareBar

  • A custom Recruitment Form that enables you to collect e-mail addresses and build your mailing list. This is essential if you are going to build your platform. (Check out the top of the sidebar to see this in action now.)
  • Several new Sidebar Widgets, so you don’t have to install these as plugins. These include a Social Reach widget, Follow Me widget, Popular Posts, Upcoming Events, and Favorite quotes. (Check out the sidebar to see these in action now.)
  • A specially designed Landing Page Template, that gives you the option of eliminating the navigation that distracts your prospects from buying. It includes a spot for a Countdown widget (for time-limited offers), Buy Buttons for major retailers, Guarantees, and Testimonials. (Here’s an example.)
  • A built-in Event Calendar, which is perfect for public speakers, entertainers, and artists. It automatically pulls in the Event mini-posts and lists them in date order. You can place a list in the sidebar or on your speaking page.
  • A Fat Footer that enables you to redeem this otherwise forgotten real estate to promote your top links, services, products, and resources—or anything else you want. Scroll to the bottom of this page for examples.
  • And lots more …

We’ve also made use of the latest web technologies, so that the theme is responsive and beautiful, whether your readers access your blog via the web, iPad, iPhone, Android, or any other mobile device.

Though we’ve launched the theme on my site, we still have some work to do, including a couple of features for the sharebar that aren’t quite done and some improvements to the way the site renders on the iPad. As soon as we have the kinks worked out, we will move to a limited beta test and then a public rollout. We hope to launch in the next few months.

If you’d like to be notified when the theme is released, please sign-up below. If you are interested in participating in the GetNoticed! beta test, sign-up here as well. You will get the invitation to apply first. (Note: signing up here does not guarantee a slot in the beta program. We will be limiting the number of participants, so that we can adequately support them.) I won’t use this mailing list for any other purpose.

Finally, I am also planning to recruit a GetNoticed! launch team, similar to what I did with my book.) This will enable us to collect additional feedback and help us get the word out.

Final Note: We have not yet announced a launch date. We are hoping to have it out by the end of first quarter of 2013, but it all depends on how the beta test goes.

Questions: What do you think of theme? Any suggestions? You can leave a comment by clicking here.

This sounds like a savvy way to help reinforce your Platform. Indeed, keep me informed about your launch!

  • http://twitter.com/DonyaDunlap Donya M Dunlap

I know I commented on this yesterday, but I just have to say, I am so excited about the release of this template! I wish it was out right now. I would switch today! I have been searching for a way to combine all my life on to one site (writer, designer, speaker, abolishionist) without chaos ensuing. This site is perfect for that! I hope you get the “kinks” worked out soon!

  • Jared Balis

Wow, I love the new blog theme Michael. It’s simple and clean, like your last one. It seems tighter and put together well. I’ll consider buying it!

  • http://JaredLatigo.com/ Jared Latigo

Man what a great idea! I’ll be sure to check it out when it’s launched, I know it will be awesome!

  • http://LeadToEquip.com/ Christopher Cook

This is amazing! I can’t wait! Thanks for intentionally being such an asset to your readers. “Platform” is a wonderful book, too! My best, Michael!

  • http://www.CharlesSpecht.com/ Charles Specht

By the way, I’ve always thought MichaelHyatt.com has the best usage of the “footer” on the internet. It is amazing how well you use that space that often gets neglected by so many (like me, for example)!

  • http://learnasyouwrite.com/ Shaquanda Dalton

I can’t wait for the new theme be be available. What price range were you thinking about pricing it at?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

We really haven’t decided, other than it will be tiered pricing based on various options.

  • http://goinswriter.com/ Jeff Goins

    nice.

  • http://www.thadthoughts.com/ Thad Puckett

Excellent idea Michael!  I look forward to seeing it.  Will it work solely with Disqus?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

No, it will work with WordPress’s native commenting system too—or any other one you want to use.

  • http://twitter.com/jhollak Joseph Hollak

You announced this idea on Thursday, Sept. 13th.

    Hello?

It’s already the 14th, and still no theme release!

    :-)

Added my name and looking forward to the release.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I’m pedaling as fast as I can!

  • Shari

Beta me Brother!  If it works out, I know I would love it.

This is great news.  What a spectacular theme.  How user friendly is it?  In other words, will I need a programmer to do even basic customization?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Nope. We want it to be drop-dead simple.

The site looks great man. Great job!

I am looking forward to it. I follow your work because I not only love the content but your delivery is flawless! Looking forward to the new theme already signed up!

I am currently on WordPress.com. It looks like it is time for me to do a self hosted launch again
The last time was an utter fail. Something did work with the install. I will try this time using your 20 minute guide. Maybe that will help.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I hope it does too. If you encounter any problems, call BlueHost support. They are superb.

  • Kathleen

I love it.  It is elegant, clear and easy to read, provides great content, and gives the reader options if they wish to dig deeper.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bobbie-Cole/100003675480465 Bobbie Cole

Hi Michael, I’d love to be on your Beta and launch team(s). Is this destiny, I wonder? Is this why a real hectic summer prevented me giving the attention to a blog launch that it deserved? I’m ready now and hope to get on the team.

  • Polina

I manage a speaker/author and oversee his website and I have been drooling over your website for quite some time. It’s a great solution to all of his needs, as you well know. :-) I’ve tried to find other comparable templates, but you probably already know that there’s nothing quite like it out there. Thanks for making this available. Definitely going to buy it as soon as it comes out! Hurry! :-)

  • http://goinswriter.com/ Jeff Goins

I like it. Especially the share bar.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks, Jeff. We have a few more features to add to the sharebar that I think you will really like.

  • Eddie Jones

Michael, we are a small Indie press and would love to beta test this when it’s released. Do you have estimated deliver date?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

No, I am afraid we don’t. One of the things I have learned about software development is don’t promise a delivery date. Things always take longer than you think. The best thing is to sign up on the form at the end of the post. We’ll be inviting our beta testers from that pool.

  • http://www.chipdizard.com/ Chip Dizard

Good stuff. I will be one of those who try out version 2.0 of your theme. You will have enough demand for 1.0 and 2.0 is where the fun begins! Kudos.

  • http://www.chrisjeub.com/ Chris Jeub

I just had a “oh my, that so totally fits” feeling. I just launched my website less than two weeks ago after a month of development. After shopping around quite a bit, I still had to jerry-rig a WP theme to walk hand-in-hand with your PLATFORM model.

So now the author is coming out with a Platform Theme? That totally fits. I’m signed up. Count me in as one of your most excited developers. I’m looking forward to this!

  • http://twitter.com/AllanDubon allan dubon

Just purchased your book for myself, and for a few friends! You have an amazing message. I am Mentoring a few people in Zimbabwe and hoping to provide them with insights to better their situations. Wonderful Leaders like http://www.RabisonShumba.com

I would love to be part of you beta team. I am just relaunching my own platform and this would be a great opportunity. Love everything you put out there.
Thanks for all the wonderful updates.

  • http://www.tillhecomes.org/ Jeremy Myers

I have invested a lot of time and effort into Standard Theme, but see the strengths in the changes you have made…. and as an aspiring author, I LOVE them.

  • mindofandre

This is great Michael! Looking forward to checking this out more. Have been laying out what I want my personal site to look like and I think this touches on plenty of the aspects I would want highlighted. Kudos on the Get Noticed book too – have been getting others to snatch it up!

  • Brian Nash

    Mr. Hyatt,

Do you have an expected time frame on the release?

    Brian Nash

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

I’m sorry, Brian, but we are not offering a ship date other than to say we are hoping by the end of the calendar year.

  • Lyndieb

I’m very interested in your theme.

  • http://twitter.com/martinlongden Martin Longden

You rock Michael! Thanks for the offer, like some guy mentioned below, charge more, give back value over time – all of us get plenty of ‘results in advance’ to assist us to rock on in our own world. Thanks!

  • Wordpress Theme

    great wordpress Theme post…

  • Mitch

Michael, when can we expect this theme to be available and where? I signed up in this post, but haven’t heard anything.  Excited to get to work with it!  Seems to offer some nice features and look / feel.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

It will be available here when it is available. We have not announced a ship date yet. Hopefully, by the end of the year.

  • http://www.tracyleejones.com/ Tracy

Hi Michael, a couple more questions…

Will blog posts have an edit option to allow me to post the blog entry link to facebook and twitter by checking a box when i post to my blog (like infusionsoft has for email broadcasts)?

also, i am signed up for the launch team notices, and just wanted to confirm that the beta test group will be launched by the end of the year, so the actual launch will most likely be next year, right?

SO impressed by what you have created- am drooooooling to test!! (and inspired by how speedy your comment responses are- how DO you do it all??) ;)

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

      Thanks for your interest, Tracy.

No, we will not have the option to automatically post on Facebook and Twitter. This is on purpose. Facebook penalizes you when you post from a third-party service of any kind. You are best to produce a link yourself to your FB page. (This is what I do.) Your post will show up higher on your followers’ stream. For Twitter, there are lots of plugins for that. Again, I do it by hand.
Yes, we will invite beta testers and launch team members from the list of people who signed up to be notified.
We are hoping to beta test and launch before year end. However, we won’t know for sure until we get a little further along.
      Thanks again.

  • http://www.faithfulchoices.com/ Paula

Hi Michael, are you taking any little bitty bloggers onto your launch team, because this bitty blogger would love to GetNoticed!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

We haven’t made any decisions yet. Best thing to do is sign up for the list. We’ll let you know. Thanks.

  • http://twitter.com/RalfKaiser Ralf Kaiser

    Hi Michael,

I do love the theme just as it stands!  I have given some thought to some possible additions that could be available through alternative homepage layouts.

I would like to see a banner style optin similar to socialtrigger.com or chrisbrogan.com (the Generate theme).

These banner style forms have shown to increase optin rates quite dramatically.

By having this option through drag and drop or pre-built shortcodes could dramatically increase the application of your theme.

    Many blessings,

    Ralf

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks for your suggestion, Ralf. I am familiar with both of these sites.

  • http://twitter.com/DannyLSmith Danny Smith

Thanks for all you do Michael. I’ve been developing my strategy to move my 400+ posts from Blogger to WordPress and following your agenda as closely as possible. And THEN (LOL) you made this announcement last week. Thus, I slowed down a bit but since the timeline for this release is likely a few months, I’m probably going to go ahead and continue on with the move using Simple Theme.

My question…when you roll out GETNOTICED!, I assume it will be easily converted. Correct?

    Thanks again.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

We’re not quite sure, Danny. I don’t have a ship date yet. We want to get it right first. We don’t really know until we get through the first round of beta. Thanks.

    • http://www.timbiden.com/ Tim Biden

Danny, when you switch over and move your content to WordPress, you should 301 redirect your Blogger site to your WordPress site. That way you won’t lose any of the incoming links that you have built and so your current readers sill still know where to find you.

A 301 redirect allows anyone who goes to your old site be be automatically redirected to your new site. That way, no one loses touch with your blog.

If you google it, you can find instructions on how to do it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bobbie-Cole/100003675480465 Bobbie Cole

Hi Michael – when will I know if I made the Beta team. If I’m not on it and I want to start now, will I be able to change to your theme in a few months?

  • http://www.junesjournal.com/ June

One (of the many things) I like about your template is the different post types (article vs. link vs. announcement, etc).  I must admit that I’ve been hard pressed to find this feature pre-built into other templates.  This is so valuable for persons who want to quickly share a link or book without composing an entire article AND have the different post types look different on the homepage.   You’ll have to update your Blueshost Screencast, or create a second Screencast, showing people how to acquire and install your new template ;-)

    Good stuff!

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Thanks. I plan to do a separate tutorial on installing the template. I will also do several tutorials on customization.

  • Andrew Eweka

Great theme. Been searching for a theme like this one – specifically made for speakers.

  • http://www.mikesalles.com/ Mike Sallés

Nice! Will it be available in other languages? Spanish?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Probably not unless it becomes really, crazy successful. We just don’t have the support staff for that. Thanks.

  • http://twitter.com/DanneHotchkiss D’Anne Hotchkiss

I assume you’ll offer customizable features like typefaces, colors, logo? I’d like to test because I’m just starting my blog as an early step to a larger platform, so while some day I will need to use many of the features, I don’t know what this theme will look like in the shorter term. I hope to not have to switch themes from a less expansive one to yours.

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

      Yep.

  • Kenneth Ensor

The clean professionalism of your blog speaks volumes. While I know the imitation is …  the more things that can be individualized without losing the style the better.

  • Jmbccs

Very new to blogging. Will this new theme allow me to change the theme’s color? Background, etc?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

      Yes, it will.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bobbie-Cole/100003675480465 Bobbie Cole

Hi Michael – lots of response here and that’s no surprise. I’m hoping to be on your Beta testing team. When will I know and when will you be ready to take that step please?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Unfortunately, I don’t have a date. I will make an announcement as soon as we do.

I noticed that in your excellent “follow me” section that you don’t have a link to your You Tube channel.  Will that be available in the “Get Noticed WP Theme”?  (sorry if this was asked before but I simply can’t read 365 posts…)

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Yes, it will. I have it at the very bottom of the page, in the footer, but didn’t want too many calls to action in the Follow Me section.

  • Brian Crowley

Hi Michael, I’ve had the honor of meeting you personally at the John Maxwell – Day about books conference. I’m a member of the John Maxwell Team and have a few books in me. I’m definitely purchasing your get published course, and in addition I am redoing my old website and would love to beta test your theme. I’ve got a good technical background and up to now have designed and managed my own site and landing pages etc.  I feel I could give you good feedback during the beta stage. I’ve done this with the Franklin Covey group on their software and still remain a feedback consultant with them. Looking forward to hearing from you. If you take the time to review my website you’ll see little fresh content. Part of my relaunch will incorporate my story over the last two years; I was injured and my life had to got through some major adjustments, somewhat similar to your story when you broke you ankle falling down the stairs. This will be integrated into my leadership theme for my training and coaching.
Thanks again for an awesome blog. Keep up the good work…Brian Crowley

  • Jess

I’d love to be on the launch team. I’ve been trying to find the right theme for my blog relaunch/rebrand but haven’t found anything that was just right until now!

  • http://www.pamperrypr.com/ Pam Perry

Great, congrats Mike!  Yes, this is a very “natural” product extension.  Fabulous idea!

  • http://www.chrisjeub.com/ Chris Jeub

I haven’t heard anything since this post. Any juicy news?

    • http://michaelhyatt.com/ Michael Hyatt

Nope. We are just working quietly, juggling this and other projects. Thanks.
