Discover How to Publish a Book and Launch Your Bestseller

My new audio course, GET PUBLISHED, is available at a $100 DISCOUNT for a limited time. Get it now and you’ll also get four FREE BONUSES worth over $150. Keep reading for details …

If you have written a book, or you’re planning to write one, and you want to know what it takes to get that book published … if you want to know how to make your book become a bestseller … then you should read every word of what follows.

In the following paragraphs, I’ll show you it’s possible to intentionally plan to have your book published, and to have it become a bestseller.

There is a process, a system, for achieving this.

The difference between you, and other authors (who will remain unpublished and unread) is simply that you will now know the system.

I know that sounds over-the-top.

The truth, however, is most people who write books never get them published. The reason for that has little to do with whether the book is any good. Plenty of great books go unpublished.

If you are waiting for someone to “discover” you and your book, good luck.

How can I be so sure of what I’m saying? Well, it’s simple: I am both a publisher and a bestselling author. I know this subject from both sides.

Confessions from a Publishing Insider

Since you are reading this on my blog, you probably already know who I am. But in case this is your first visit, my name is Michael Hyatt, and I’m the former CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers, one of the largest publishing houses in the world.

Over the course of my 30-year career, I’ve launched multiple best-selling authors, authored two New York Times best sellers myself (including my latest book, Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World), and built one of the largest blogs in the world with more than 300,000 unique visitors per month.

My new audio course, GET PUBLISHED, lays out the specific strategies that have worked for me and nearly every author I’ve ever worked with. Few people have had the kind of front-row seat I’ve had to watch these publishing masters at work.

And these strategies can work for you, too.

This is the most comprehensive guide to publishing and launching a book I’ve ever seen. The quality is beyond that of anything else out there. Even as a published author, I’m taking notes and finding LOTS of nuggets to apply to my own platform and writing career. Thanks, Michael, for a resource! I’ll be referencing it for years to come!”Jeff Goins

Do You Know What Rejection Is Like?

Personally, I know how challenging it can be to succeed as an author. Whether you’re struggling to find an agent or searching for a publisher, I’ve been there. My first book was rejected 29 times before it was finally accepted. It nearly stopped me dead in my tracks.

What saved me was perseverance—and the belief that I could succeed. If I had only known then what I know now, it would have been a LOT easier.

Maybe you have already published your book. But you just can’t seem to get the sales or the attention your work deserves. I’ve been there, too.

While my first book hit the New York Times bestsellers list, my second book—which I thought was a sure-fire winner—sank without a ripple.

That nearly caused me to quit. Again, if I had only known then what I know now. Like they say, hindsight is 20/20.

But, fortunately for me—and for you—I figured it out and am here to help. This program will provide you with the in-depth instruction and action steps you need to start making your publishing dreams come true.

You Have a Problem

Writing and publishing a book is not easy, and the deck is stacked against you.

According to The New York Times, 81 percent of people say they have a book in them. They believe they have something important to share with the world. But—big surprise!—they never write it.

Because the idea of writing and publishing a book is OVERWHELMING. Most don’t even know where to start. And for those few who choose to jump in and give it a try, they’re often met with roadblocks, confusion, and rejection at every turn.

In fact, the majority of first-time authors who submit a book to an agent or publisher are immediately rejected. Of those who survive the cut, the average author who publishes with a traditional publishing house sells less than 3,000 copies. Authors who choose to self-publish, sell less than 200 copies.

I don’t tell these statistics to discourage you. Rather, I want you to arm you with the truth.

If you don’t approach this the right way—the smart way—then you’ll likely end up another publishing statistic.

I don’t want that for you, and I’m sure you don’t want that, either.

That’s why I have developed a step-by-step solution to show you HOW TO AVOID THE COMMON MISTAKES most authors make and save yourself wasted time, money, and frustration.

It’s called GET PUBLISHED, a 21-session audio program. It provides literally everything you need to know to get published AND become a successful, thriving author. And for a limited time, I am also throwing in FOUR FREE BONUSES worth $150.97.

This Is Not Theory, But Proven, Market-Tested Advice

I don’t share my theories in this course. Everything I talk about has been PROVEN—first in my own publishing experience, and then in the experiences of countless other bestselling authors.

My own experience is not insignificant. It includes working as:

  • A marketing director and then a VP of Marketing for two major publishing houses.
  • An acquisitions editor, editor-in-chief, and finally publisher of another publishing house.
  • The owner of my own publishing company where I experienced the thrill of victory … and the agony of defeat.
  • A successful literary agent for several bestselling authors (and a few not-so-successful ones).

And, most recently, as:

  • The CEO and then Chairman of Thomas Nelson Publishers, the seventh largest book publisher in the U.S. (now owned by HarperCollins).

Believe me, I’ve seen it all—what works and what doesn’t.

Although there’s no silver bullet for publishing success, my program will DRAMATICALLY INCREASE YOUR CHANCES. If you do the work and follow the steps I lay out for you, you’ll see results. I guarantee it.

Why? Because I take out the guesswork. This program moves beyond ideas of what might work and teaches you precisely what does work—and how to do it. It’s 100 percent market-tested, news-you-can-use.

I can’t say enough good things about Michael Hyatt’s course Get Published. As a new author, it was one ‘ah ha’ moment after another. It was so helpful learning from someone who is inside the industry who could explain the whys behind the whats. Get Published answered all my questions and many that I didn’t even know to ask. I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to be more successful in their efforts to get published.”S. Courtney Lawson

  • 6 characteristics of a winning mindset and why your attitude about writing is more important than the writing itself

  • Why the what and the why are way more important than the how—and why you can’t afford to get these reversed.

Session 5: Create a Compelling Book Proposal (Part I). In this session and the next, I go into depth about how to create a winning book proposal—one that is “trash proof.” From crafting killer query letters, to describing the market, to honing a unique selling proposition, I explain exactly how to create this critically important document. I share …

  • The one mistake that will earn you a near-instant rejection letter
  • Why your book proposal is so important and the 3 questions it must answer if you are going to make it past first base
  • The purpose of a “premise statement” and the two critical components it must include if your proposal is going to stand out from the competition

Session 6: Create a Compelling Book Proposal (Part II). You’ll not only learn the components of a winning book proposal, but I’ll also give you the inside secrets of how to get a publisher to read it! By the way, my book proposal e-books (which you’ll get as free bonuses) have been endorsed by almost every major agent and several publishers. They are the de facto standard in the publishing industry. I explain …

  • How to take inventory of your platform and translate that into a compelling marketing plan
  • How to present your bio in a way that establishes your authority to write the book you are proposing

Session 7: Understanding What Goes on in Publishing Houses. This is where being on the inside for so long gives me—and you—a unique advantage. Most authors don’t understand this process. Most agents have never witnessed it first-hand. But when you begin to understand what goes on within the walls of a publishing house, you’re equipped to use that knowledge to your advantage. You’ll discover …

  • 5 key contract variables and why nothing else matters if you don’t get these right

Session 9: Get Your Book Written and Finished. Writing a book is a challenge, to be sure. But it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. • 7 sure-fire suggestions for making the actual writing process easier
  • A little-known software solution to the number one productivity-killer for aspiring authors

Session 10: Cooperate with the Professionals. Learning how to work with others in the publishing industry is critical. You can’t go it alone. You need a team of professionals. Unfortunately, newbie authors often resist this help and suffer the consequences. I’ll show you how to leverage these relationships for your success. I’ll share with you …

  • A peek behind the curtain of what happens to your manuscript once you turn it into the publisher (and how you can manage this process to optimize your chances of success)
  • The 4 types of editors and why understanding the role of each is critical if you are going to create the best product possible

Session 11: Create a Wow Package. This often spells the difference between success and failure. If prospective readers don’t pick up your book in a bookstore or choose it online, you lose. You’re competing against tens of thousands of other books, and you must stand out. You can’t settle for anything less than wow. I explain …

  • The one thing you must do if you are going to create a wow experience for your readers (and the one thing you MUST avoid!)
  • The psychology of book-buying, including the 6 steps every prospective reader goes through before deciding to buy.

Section 3: Go!

Here’s where I share the little-known truth that getting published is only the beginning. In this section, you’ll learn how to launch your book and give it the best chance of success once it’s published.

  • 4 essential elements you must consider in setting up your homebase and establishing your brand
  • 2 tiny tweaks you can make to your website that will get people coming back again and again

Session 13: Engage Your Tribe. Influence is generated by engagement. In this session I’ll show you how to build up your tribe (a.k.a. following) and engage them in a way that turns them into raving fans who will help you spread your message. I share …

  • The #1 key to building trust and creating loyalty—you can’t convert prospects to customers without it
  • A simple ratio that, when practiced, turns your followers and customers into evangelists on your behalf

  • Why the months after you turn in your manuscript but before your book is actually published are critical to setting yourself up for success
  • 10 suggestions for improving your interview skills, so you are ready to maximize your media opportunities and turn exposure into sales

Session 17: Prepare for the Big Launch (Part II). The detailed, specific strategies I share with you are exactly what I used to land my book on the New York Times bestsellers list earlier this year. The best part is that almost ALL of these strategies can be done by anyone regardless of their current platform size. You’ll discover …

Session 18: Maximize Your Publicity Opportunities. In this session, I’ll share with you how to maximize your impact by leveraging publicity in the right way. Though it can be massively helpful, it can also be a huge time-suck. I’ll help you discern the difference, so you are focused on those publicity activities that generate tangible results. I share …

  • Exactly what you must accomplish in the first 30 days after your book is launched in order to avoid ”sinking without a ripple” (the fate of 95% of all books published)
  • How bloggers are now the driving force behind book promotion and how you can harness their power to get your book noticed

Session 19: Hit the Best Sellers List. Hitting the bestsellers list is actually more attainable that you might think. I’m not saying it’s easy. It’s not. It requires the right strategy (which I give you) and a tremendous amount of work. But trust me, as a bestselling author myself, it is well-worth the effort. I explain …

  • How the bestseller lists are compiled and how you can use that knowledge to increase your chances of landing on one
  • Warning! If you do everything right yet miss this one strategy—and most authors do—you will fail, no matter how many books you sell

Session 20: Launch a Business (Part I). So you’ve launched your book, now what? In sessions 20 and 21 I’ll talk to you about how to monetize your platform and turn it into an on-going business. • 3 proven ways to monetize your platform and turn your traffic into cash

Why This Decision Is a No-Brainer

My hope in sharing this material is for it to help authors like you avoid costly mistakes and take advantage of what really works. That’s why I’ve priced it affordably so that as many authors as possible can take advantage of it TODAY.

Maybe you’re thinking, I’m not sure … it just doesn’t sound that affordable.

Ask yourself these three questions…

  • What would you pay if you could finally get offered a publishing contract from a traditional publisher?
  • What would you pay to avoid the costly mistakes that can doom you to months, if not years, of spinning your wheels and getting nowhere?
  • What would you pay to accelerate the learning curve, discover what you need to know, and get your book making money sooner rather than later?

Or look at it this way…

  • I charge more than $1,500 an hour for consulting. (I know that sounds ridiculous, but it’s simply supply and demand.) If you hired me to deliver this same content one-on-one, it would cost you more than $15,000.
  • It costs almost $1,500 to attend one of my live conferences (e.g., SCORRE or Launch), plus travel and accommodations. If I delivered this same content to you in a multi-day conference, you’d pay more than $2,500 for the opportunity.
  • My peers in the online marketing world typically charge $997 to $2,997 for courses similar to this. The crazy thing is that hundreds and even thousands of people pay these amounts.

Sure, given enough time you could probably figure out most of what I say on your own. You could scour the Internet for free advice, try to book appointments with industry professionals, or talk with a few friends who are authors.

But what is your time worth?

Even if you have the time, do you have the contacts and would you know what steps to take to go from point A to point B with any probability of success?

My guess is “no.”

Even if you did, you still wouldn’t have my thirty years worth of experience as a publisher, literary agent, and New York Times bestselling author—or the opportunity to work along side hundreds of bestselling authors, as I have, observing the common strategies and behaviors that lead to publishing success.

But now you can have it all, all 21 audio sessions (totaling over 10 hours of targeted teaching), workbook, and bonus materials for the special introductory price of $297.00.

Michael Hyatt is a master at ‘Showing vs Telling.’ Telling would only give us more information, leaving us to fend for ourselves. However, with Get Published, Michael shows us how to achieve results by walking us step-by-step through the process. The Questions I’m Asked Most Frequently

If we were face-to-face over a cup of coffee, I would answer all your questions about GET PUBLISHED. But since we’re not, let me do the next best thing …

Here are the top ten questions I get asked most frequently, and my answers.

Q: Will I receive anything in the mail?
A: No. This product 100% digital. The good news is that you will not have to wait for this program to arrive in the mail. You will get INSTANT ACCESS. You can begin your publishing journey within minutes of making the decision to buy.

Q: What happens after I purchase GET PUBLISHED?
A: Within minutes of submitting your order, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. It will include your account information and login to the GET PUBLISHED Dashboard. Here you can access all of the audio content, download the workbook and e-books, and access the bonus content.

Q: How much overlap is there between this and your other products?
A: To be honest, some. Sessions 5 and 6 cover how to create a compelling book proposal. I have dealt with this topic in my two e-books on this subject (which you will also receive as a bonus when you buy GET PUBLISHED). However, in this program I actually talk you through creating them, just as if I were coaching you one-on-one. I cover some of the content in Section 3 in my book, Platform. But again, I talk you through it in GET PUBLISHED, adding additional material and applying it specifically to publishing. All in all, I would estimate there’s about a 20% overlap with previously-published material.

Q: What if this doesn’t meet my needs?
A: No problem. I offer a full 90-day money-back guarantee. If you buy GET PUBLISHED today and don’t agree that it’s worth every penny I said it was, I will promptly refund your money. No questions asked. No hassle. You have my word on it. (See the certificate further down the page).

Q: How do I get a refund?
A: Just send me an e-mail and we will instantly refund your money. (Okay, if it’s the middle of the night here, it might be the next day.)

Q: What if I am already a published author?
A: Honestly, everything still applies. You, perhaps more than anyone, know you need help if you are going to succeed. While I don’t offer any silver bullets, I take the guesswork out of how to succeed as an author.

Q: What if I can’t pay for this all at once?
A: We have an installment plan just for you. You can pay for it in four easy installments of $86.75 each by clicking here. Granted, it’s more expensive that way, but waiting until you can afford to pay all at once may even be more expensive!

Q: How long will I have access to this program?
A: Forever. Or at least as long as the Internet exists. If you are really concerned, you can download everything—every audio session, the workbook, and all four bonuses—directly to your local computer.

Q: Can I download the audio sessions and import them into iTunes?
A: Yes. In fact, we even have a tutorial in the program on how to do this.

Q: What if I have a question or need support?
A: We are here to help. Simply submit any questions you have to our support forum here. If you prefer, you can call us at (904) 297-8685.

I needed Get Published ten years ago. It was then that my wife Jennifer Rothschild published her first book Lessons I Learned in the Dark. New to publishing, I looked for a complete resource that would provide the ins and outs of publishing. Instead I found helpful, but disjointed and incomplete advice. Get Published walks would be authors step-by-step, from concept development to sales and marketing. The workbook keeps you on task, prompting you to take action. And, you can do it on your own schedule. Finally, a complete resource, from a trustworthy expert.Dr. Philip Rothschild

    Dear Michael,
I am currently finishing my debut novel, Entrusted.  (It is in the final proof stage with a publisher.) Will this program help me specifically in the marketing portion with specific ideas for promotion? If so, I would be interested in ordering.

Yes, I think it will. If it doesn’t, you can get a refund. Thanks for your interest.

  • Jcpeone

How is this related to you book about Platforms? What is the difference. Are the Platform ideas all covered in the cd’s and workbook?

    • Michael Hyatt

Some overlap, but much, much different. This is really about publishing. I don’t really talk about that at all in Platform.

  • Harmonjackie55

Well, I’m a novice, but have been working on completing my book for almost a year. Sounds like this is what I need.  Thank you.

  • Colin Michael

Being realistic, I don’t think any publisher will be interested in my Critique of Theologies and Business of Church, but I still want to complete it and publish it. If I’m not interested in dealing with typical publishers, is there enough here for the self-publisher to make it worth my while?

    • Michael Hyatt

Absolutely. And, if you don’t agree, you can request a refund. Thanks.

    • sunshine

I would be interested in that. The Church needs to have better business practices, well at least all the Catholic Churches I’ve seen in the US.

    • Don Shrumm

Michael – as a pastor of 25 years constantly reading theology and currently devouring a business magazine (“Build”) and impressed with its church application I am already interested in your book!

  • Jeremie Barber

    HI Michael,

I’ve read Platform several times and continue down the road to implementing what I have read (with success).  We also met at A Day About Books down in Palm Beach.  I’m really excited that you put together this package.  My question is, by going through this program do we get any additional access to you personally for questions?  Sometimes I’d really like to shot you a quick email…

    • Michael Hyatt

Actually, this is all delivered through a platform called Kajabi. You can leave comments or questions on each session. I did in there from time to read the comments and respond. Thanks.

  • Aaron Marcelli

I have self-published a book and it hasn’t done real well.  I think that’s because of the poor marketing on my part.  Does any of this content cover that?

Also, are not most of these lessons things a book agent could or would do for you?

    • Michael Hyatt

Yes, the largest section has to do with marketing.

  • Rob Sorbo

If publishing was a dream/goal of mine, then I would get it in a heartbeat. I will definitely mention it to writers I encounter.

  • Joseph J Young

Okay, I’m in! not that I am a sucker for every product launch out there but because you are a credible resource. Any course that requires change and work on the part of the student is going to weed out the insincere and those who lack heart. Too much of the “I want the easy way” in the air today. Thanks so much for mapping out a path for us to follow as authors.

  • April

Does this work for fiction writers as well as non fiction?

    • Michael Hyatt

Yes, it does. If you don’t agree, you can get a refund.

  • Joe Sewell

May I speak freely for a moment?

I don’t doubt that this is an excellent resource. I don’t doubt that this is a good deal. I also don’t doubt that it would help me with my nascent nonfiction book, The God-Sized Church: Finding Your Place in His Place.

Quite frankly, though, even at over 50% off, even with the bonuses, I’m not sure I’d have the time, with a full-time engineering job, to give this program the time I’d need to give it over the next 90 days. I’m sure, though, that the money would be better used right now paying down our debts, especially medical debts incurred by my wife’s neuroendocrine carcinoma.

So thanks for the limited-time teaser, but I must pass.

I do have one question, though: for those of us with slower desktop computers that have a hard time even with the video in this post, does your content provider allow downloading the items for offline reading, say on an MP3 player or CD in the car?

    • Michael Hyatt

Yes, indeed. It is all downloadable. We even have a tutorial on how to do that.

  • Jen McDonough

    Hi Michael,
How cool is this that you are offering this.
    Live Beyond Awesome.
(note, please get your social media buttons up so we can brag you up easier)

    • Michael Hyatt

We will have the social media buttons up tomorrow. We had them turned off because this was a private, liited launch.

      • Jen McDonough

Thanks Michael, I just get so dang excited to promote you that I wanted to remind you JUST in case you forgot. I doubted the King of Platform would overlook this, but one never knows.

        • Michael Hyatt

Ha! Thanks, Jen. I appreciate your enthusiasm!

  • Cynthia A.

Could you please clarify the deadline? Your countdown clock looks like it goes until 9-30-12, and that is the date for your special offer for your readers. In the two call to action buttons below the first CTA the date is September 23 (yesterday). Did I miss the deadline or do I still have a few days more?

    • Michael Hyatt

Sorry about that. The deadline is September 30th. I have fixed that. Thanks.

  • Michael Hyatt

Go for it, Rob! And thanks for sharing the news with your clients and friends.

  • Royal Harvest

Michael, this looks like such a great resource. I will be sharing with my tribe.

  • thegospelwriter

    Hi Michael,
This is absolutely awesome. Will you offer this product to your affiliates?

    • Michael Hyatt

Yes, we will. You can sign up here to find out more about the Affiliate program.

  • JeremyRochford

Hey Michael, I just picked this up. I’m excited to see how it will help take my vision to the next level and make an impact along the way.

  • Michael Hyatt

Yes, I think it would. I don’t know enough to explain why. But don’t forget: you have a 90-day money-back guarantee. If you don’t find it helpful, you can just request a refund and get every penny back. Thanks.

  • Jenny

    Hi Michael,
Is this resource specifically for those who already have a book in the works? I noticed that there is a session on writing the book, but it appears that the majority of this is geared for the work that needs to be done after the book is written. Could you clarify this for me.

    • Michael Hyatt

No, it is both. I assume that you have NOT written the book. Thanks.

      • Jenny

Thank you for the prompt reply! Yes, you assumed correctly. There are three of us in this household with unwritten or incomplete books and I am just wondering what is the best way to proceed.

  • Eddie Bakker

    Hi Michael
What about publishing in a European context, I am à missionary from South Africa working in Holland and Germany and am busy writing my biography as well as a book about the times we life in. Will this be of use to me

Thx for your blog and podcasts They are clear concise and to the point
    God bless you
    Eddie Bakker

    • Michael Hyatt

Yes, I think so. Publishing is publishing, pretty much where ever you go.

  • Kimberly

Bud, that’s a great idea for a book! It’s a larger market than you might think. I might have a couple of interesting stories to contribute to your book, if you find the need, that might give the reader some insights into “turbulent waters.” – Kimberly Sutton, missionary, churchplanter and pastor’s wife.

    • Bud Brown

Thanks for the encouragement, Kimberly. I may take you up on your offer.

  • Carolyne

    Dear Michael,
Do you cover what topics make the best books? It is my understanding that non-fiction is better for this than fiction. How do you go about finding a worthwhile niche that hasn’t been covered a zillion times by others?

    • Michael Hyatt

I actually don’t talk about this at all, since it really depends on numerous variables. The main thing—particularly with non-fiction—is to write from your area of expertise. Thanks.

  • Guest

I have no doubt that this is excellent material! I only wish I’d known about it a few months ago so I’d have had the time to get the $ together. I know $200 is a steal, but there’s simply not enough time for me to save up for this before the 9/30 deadline.

    Apreciado Michael:
I invested a small fortune when I self-published my Spanish Book about worries management. By reading this, I feel that what you promise, is what I need.
I will buy the package now and let you know how I apply the knowledge that you are sharing. I have been following you . I trust in your wisdom. I will keep you posted on my experience. Thank you :)

    • Michael Hyatt

Thank you. I appreciate your trust.

  • Mark Bulmer

Michael, Will there be any giveaways for Get Published ? Would
love the program but just back from honeymoon (read: poor & happy)

    • Michael Hyatt

I am not planning on any right now. But thanks for the suggestion.

  • Darbi

    Hi Michael,

Would Insider Secrets be useful for those such as myself seeking to get children’s picture books published? Thanks.

    • Michael Hyatt

Yes, I think it would, but I don’t address children’s picture books directly.

  • Gs1eleven

Can this apply to writting childrens books as well?

    • Michael Hyatt

      Yes, somewhat.

  • Mark

Michael, I am writing a textbook, will this program be useful for marketing the textbook?

    • Michael Hyatt

Honestly, I am not sure. I have zero experience in the textbook market. You could always buy the program, then request a refund if it doesn’t add value.

  • Melbascruggs

I have my first book ready for publication, But I’m have trouble finding the funds
to pay so I can get started. I don’t know who else I can ask, since I haven’t found anyone who would even assist a disabled 54 year old widow, being denied assistance
on every hand. I have asked churches to give me a hand up, they don’t answer.
I’ve asked my state rep. still waiting to she if she answers. I’ve asked our government,
State officials, Family, and friends. Nobody is able to assist> I’m hoping that you know someone who doesn’t require a credit card, because I no longer carry one.
Think about how much JK Rowlins made after publishing Harry Potter,  My work is
just as good as hers, but until I have a contract , I don’t know who I should trust with my work.  334-446-0608

  • Melba Scruggs

What would you do if you were in my possition, no money, no job, and transportation,  no family, 1 friend doing all he can to help, and over a year of seeking assistance trying to get your book published. Every publisher has a different price to
get started, I’m not PC savey enough to selfpublish, but even that cost, but I was left
without any way to support myself. I went to the same church for 10 years, helpped many people, but not one of them would lift a finger to help me in my time of need.
Please if you know someone that would stand with me to become published with my famliy friendly story, have them call me at 334-446-0608 Thank you

  • Isabel

    Dear Michael,
Do you think your program also covers the European market of publishing fiction novels?

    • Michael Hyatt

Honestly, I am not familiar enough with that market to say. However, I offer a fully money-back guarantee if you don’t find it helpful. Thanks.

  • Daisy

    Help! I’m overwhelmed!

Prolific non-published author, ready to Get Published, writes:

Sounds wonderful! But I won’t have the money to buy until I publish. (There is a hole in my bucket.)

Seriously, should I buy Get Published or spend the same money trying to attend writers conference? Is there overlap or is it six on one side and 6 on the other?

Also, any advice for collecting/evaluating/organizing the thousands of pages accumulated over the years? I mean of all the zillion WIPs in my closet and file cabinets and boxes under the bed, some thing must be at least publishable — maybe even worth reading.

  • Hans

I think even your discounted price is still TOO HIGH! What impoverished want-to-be author has $300 for a mere audio course these days in this tough economy?

IDEA: How about being really helpful and selling us just the transcripts in a simple e-book for $47?

  • Robinkruzik

Good evening, Michael. My adult son just sent me your information “Get Published” and we are way beyond the Sept 30th deadline. Has the tine been extended? What is the price today, Jan, 25th?  I have written for years, but never jumped over the “get it really published/marked” hurdle. Your program sounds great and being retired, I have time to read and listen.

    • Michael Hyatt

Robin, the current price is $297. That’s still a $100 discount.

You can read more about it here.
      Thanks for your interest.

  • Donnawalltx

I see the $100  discount and money back but how much is the cost complete thanks

    • Michael Hyatt

$297.00. That includes everything I have described above.

  • Shana

    Dear Michael,

Is this something that wouold beof benefit if you have a childrens book with a product that goes along with the book?

    • Michael Hyatt

Honestly, probably not. Sorry. Thanks for your interest.

  • Diane

This looks really good and your experience and knowledge is well worth the money your asking….but I am not doing a standard how to book or a novel. Mine is a children’s educational book. Is this going to benefit something like that?  I have a great idea (I really do) and I do not want to be 60 years old and say I had a great idea and never see it come to life. I want to leave a legacy for generations to come its not about me  I know I can change others lives with what I have…is this about selling my idea and marketing and do you think it would  benefit  me to take the time to study your products.

    • Michael Hyatt

Diane, honestly, I am not sure. I would suggest you buy it. If you listen to it and don’t find it helpful, I’ll happily refund your money—no questions asked.

  • Josh Collins

I’ve had this on my radar for some time now. I can’t wait to digest this!

  • Karen Jordan

“Get Published” and ‘Platform’ are two resources that I recommended to writers/bloggers/speakers all the time. Thanks for sharing your wisdom & expertise with us, Michael. Blessings!

  • South Texas Autism

Sounds interesting. Would love to get for my wife, as she has written a Christian novel. No money right now as I am unemployed and we have other stuff going on with the kids. Maybe this is something that will also be around later down the road as well?

  • Ray

Michael, how does one build a webpage such as this one with the same format for book promotion?

  • Bethany Connor

Michael, do you have an affiliate program for this product? I used it and it was fantastic! Would love to highlight it on my website. Thank you for all the value that you give to us each and every day!

    • Michael Hyatt

We don’t have an affiliate program yet, but we are working on it.

      • Bethany Connor

Excellent! I will keep my eyes and ears peeled for when it comes out. It was an awesome course! I’ve been telling others about it as well and would love to highlight it on my website as well. Thanks so much!

  • Josue Molina

Michael, do you have anything for someone who wants to starting to write their first e-book?

  • maarigeali

I would be interested in that. The Church needs to have better business practices, well at least all the Catholic Churches I’ve seen in the US.

  • Kevin Darné

    Hello Michael,

I wish I had come across your website over a year ago. Sounds like you would have been able to ease (many) of my challenges!!!

Essentially I chose to self-publish my book without bothering to submit it to a single literary agent. It’s a self-help/how to book. My vision was to sell the book in conjunction with doing workshops/seminars and speaking engagements. I chose to go through Amazon’s CreateSpace which is their POD publishing arm which I am sure you are familiar with, The book was to be my “calling card”.

I was fortunate enough to get some decent noteworthy reviews from Publishers Weekly, Midwest Book Review, and Readers Favorite. Presently the book is a finalist for ForeWord Magazine Review’s 2012 Book of the year award under the family and relationship category. I’ve also done some Internet radio interviews, a trade show…etc

I mention all of this to say if I had it to do all over I would have done things differently! Books that are published through POD are generally not stocked in brick and mortar stores such as Barnes & Noble. Publicity for one’s book should start way before the book is published. Marketing is almost more important that writing if you are going to be successful. I could go on and on about all the mistakes I’ve made learning things by “trial and error”.

As I stated from the outset I wish I had found out about your product over a year ago. Before I start to write another book I will make sure I buy this program!

    Best wishes,

Kevin Darné – Author of My Cat Won’t Bark! (A Relationship Epiphany)

    • Michael Hyatt

Thanks for this report, Kevin. Very helpful!

  • Michael

This sounds like what I need. I wrote my first book and it got me a deal on the first try. But I am not prepared for it…co-publishing with a traditional publisher or knowing what the future process will look like. I trust that your material will help me in these regards.

  • sachin

This is one of the best reference pieces that all those who are looking forward in publishing their sites can refer to. Also it mentions various perspectives that various publishers take into consideration in popularizing all their books.

  • Suwandy Tjin

    Dear Michael,

Thank you for all that you are doing and have done to help aspiring writers and authors. My question is: I can see that I will be able to gain a lot from learning about publishing and writing from you. However, I come from Indonesia, with the target market, initially in Indonesia where ebook isn’t a big thing at all, and book-publishing typically involves paying a lot of money to the publishers so they would be willing to publish your book, or for some, buying their own books in order to ensure entry into the “bestseller lists”, which in here, is only 10,000 copies.

Would your books and curriculum be helpful for me who wanted to get-published because I want to help people, not because I want to make a name for myself? (Although, somehow, I think that it is a chicken-before-egg situation)

    • Michael Hyatt

Yes, I think it would be helpful. I have people from all over the world who have used my material to achieve their dreams. Thanks for your interest.

  • Matt Law

Ok, I’m in! Been following for a while and it’s time to get ready for the book proposal! :-) Looking forward to diving into this!

I hate to sound picky, but I am a visual learner and extremely busy. I could never get through that much audio. Any chance you will offer this in printed format?

    • Michael Hyatt

I don’t have any plans at this time. Thanks.

  • sylvain V bolduc

How can I download it to my iPhone without a Computer ?

    • Michael Hyatt

I don’t think you can do that. I’m sorry.

      • sylvain V bolduc

I found ! We can have a free apps. It is a alternative browser to Safari called: Music Download Player (By AppDreamTeam).
        PS: I love your show!

  • Fr. Charles Wood

    Dear Mr. Hyatt,
Just to make sure I’m not missing a special code or a special-offer link, is $297 the price AFTER the $100 limited-time discount? PS: Christmas Season graces & blessings to you & your family!

    • Michael Hyatt

Yes, Charles. The retail price is $397. Thanks.

      • Fr. Charles Wood

Thanks for the really prompt reply, particularly on a Saturday! Too bad I didn’t act on the “Black Friday” special! In the words of an African-American spiritual: “Nobody’s fault but mine.” PS: Please check out a comment I also just submitted on the last episode of the great “Help, I Married an Entrepreneur!” Podcast series.

        • Michael Hyatt

No problem, Fr. Charles. I did respond to the other comment. Thanks so much!

Michael, my Goal right now is to write my book and Jeff goins’ Tribe Writers is awesome and I am enjoying it. But I need something extra, some structure that helps me write my book. Is this the right course for me? Or is there another product from you better suited for this goal? Like the I am already a member of the platform university. Greetings from Costa Rica!!!! JP Rivas

    • Michael Hyatt

Honestly, I’m not sure. The goods is that I offer a money-back guarantee. If you buy it and don’t find it helpful, I will give you a 100% refund. Thanks.

    • Jeff Goins

JP, I think it would be perfect for you (for what it’s worth).

  • Michael Hyatt

Thanks, Nathan. The print market is not going away. Ebook sales account for about 25% of the market at the growth has flattened. If you are selling the book from your website, you can offer r in both formats. Thanks.

    • Nathan Phillips

      Thanks Michael,
That makes a lot of sense. I’m really impressed with how fast you responded to my question. Thanks so much,

    Dear Michael ,
i would like to confirm the following, i have my manuscript completed, it is a book about life issues, and written in a humorous form, i am not working at the moment because of my ailment symptoms. and i have got no money to do the publishing of my book. is there a possibility that your company offers the services of assistant with the publishing and also marketing of the same . i am not sure how it would work .may be you do it and then i would be paid any amount due from the purchases of the book. please , i just want you to put me through.

    • Michael Hyatt

No, I’m afraid not. You will need a book publisher. I don’t do that. Thanks.

  • Coach Brown

Your material was recommended to me by a close friend who has published. In our discussion I discussed West Bow Publishing div Thomas. His first book was truly self-published and he shared insight from your material about the traditional publishing route, which is where he brought you up by name. He was unaware of West Bow and how it and others like it have risen as a middle option between traditional versus true self-publish route, What is your recommendation on West Bow option for an author’s first venture into the world of publishing?

    • Michael Hyatt

I think it is definitely worth exploring. I am not longer connected to the company, so I can’t vouch for the quality of the service. Personally, my first choice would always be traditional publishing. If you have a platform and a good idea, it’s just less work.

      • Coach Brown

After asking more questions and talking with my wife, I will take my friends advice and invest in pursuing the traditional publishing route. I am retired and have the time and resources, as well as the business background. I just had to decide to invest the time and remember shortcuts to success are usually fraught with pitfalls. I did some more research and think “self-publishing” not worth it, Thanks. Order coming in the morning.

  • Navneet

    Hi Michael

Very nice and informative content .

    Nice read .

  • Kalani Butch Vale

I wish I would of bought this course before I self-published my current book. Thanks Michael I’m buying the course right now. BTW I have read and listened to Platform over 20 times now. Life changer my friend. Mahalo.

    • Michael Hyatt

      Thanks, Kalani.

  • Matt Law

Hi guys, I bought this course about 9 months ago and thought I would chime in and give feedback. First of all, the content is fantastic. Very little fluffy stuff and lots of expert advice. It is an interview with Micael that covers the entire process from query letter to contracts. We are working on a book proposal and I’m so thankful for this course, because it saved me many trips around the mountain. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, but this is a great product. Once we get a contract (hopefully in 2015), I come back and share. Highly suggested if your serious about getting published! Good luck guys.

    • Michael Hyatt

Thanks for your kind words, Matt!

  • Michael Mulhern

    Excellent material!

  • Becky Heffner De Acetis

Will this help guide me through marketing and promoting? My great uncle has published a book about his life in the hey day of the circus through a self publishing company. I would love to help him promote it and get it sold, recouping some of those expenses.

    • Michael Hyatt

      Yes, it will.

      • Becky Heffner De Acetis

Thanks for the quick reply and the assurance of the guarantee

  • Gary Birtles

I agree that one needs to put themselves out there to get published. I think many authors are just too shy to do that. It definitely takes bravery to put something you’ve written out there, but the payoff can be great. I think it is better to take chances rather than live with regret.
