The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score.

You are absolutely right. Its the end of the year and I am completing a form to be sent back to my online writing school. Its basically a review on all the works that the students have done so far. I’ve just realized that all the works I did, articles and reviews were on my online blogs or FB notes but never on any proper magazines. I didn’t make it a goal to penetrate the magazine market thus in a way I’ve lost something. Fear and lack of confidence were a major factor . Some of the works were responded to by some notable local writers or industry people. I do regret not finding a proper platform for my writing. Lessons learned the hard way. May God help me with my writing for the coming year.

And when you do score, celebrate a little.

But you also never fail (and failing is good, sets your limits and marks your progress)

On the other hand; Bobb Biehl points out that as many as half of all CEO’s consider themselves problem solvers as opposed to goal setters. I tend to fall into that category. For me, life is not so much a game to win.

Interesting. I believe that is great to be both! It takes practice and dedication though…

There are no goals in football as there are in soccer, yet footballers score, too.

Agreed Mike!  As Paul asserts in 1 Corinthians 9:26 ” I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air”, it is imporatant to begin with end in mind.
