Thomas Nelson Employees Speak Out About the Half Marathon

About three weeks ago, 135 of our employees completed the Country Music Half Marathon in Nashville, Tennessee. (Our Dallas-based employees completed the Big-D Dallas Half Marathon a month earlier.) While it was fresh in their minds, I wanted to capture their thoughts.

So Lindsey Nobles, my Director of Corporate Communications, produced this simple 6-minute video with the help of David Woodard at Literary Video. In it, our Nashville employees talk about their experience. I can’t wait until next year.

Running alongside fellow runners…what an opportunity to make this world a better place! Whether you finish in an hour and 20 minutes, or 3 hours or later, coming across the finish line of something like this is just incredible.

An uplifting idea: Look around your community for a 5K or 10K you can sign up for in the next 4 weeks. Pay the entry fee, show up, get the shirt, and finish the event. If you’ve ever thought the “one day I’ll…” thought, now is the time to start!

Thank you, Michael, for inspiring me this morning…

Ya know what, I’ve always wanted to run a marathon and maybe I will do what Jason suggested, find a 5K or a 10K to sign up for and start there, afterall, a 5K is what 2.5 miles and a 10K is 5 miles – is that right :)

What an inspiring video! I loved seeing some of the TN folks. Go Tami! Very cool she participated too. :-)

It’s enough to make a couch potato like me want to run. LOL

Michael, it was a pleasure meeting you the other night at the Fireproof screening. I enjoyed visiting with Gail – she is a gem. I have been enjoying your blog for a while and am thrilled by the way you are encouraging your employees to run. Myself and a bandmate are doing the same thing with our fans around the country/world – we’ve started a running club called Rockstar Runners and have had a number of people join up already. Thanks for all you do… press on!

Thanks for putting together and posting this video. Very inspiring, even for someone like me who is for sure going to do the half-marathon in Nashville again next year! My husband and I are challenging other family members to train and participate with us in April. It will be awesome!

I still say that all you need are good socks, good shoes, and a little stamina. Anyone can do this if they are brave enough to try!
