How To Lead Even When You’re Scared

And Why Great Leaders Learn to Embrace Their Fear

We’ve all felt it. Right before you try a new idea for the first time, there’s always that moment of panic. Is this really going to work? Is it too late to back out?

I say “panic,” but let’s call it what it is: self-doubt. Deep down, whenever you put yourself out there, you secretly wonder … do I have what it takes?

On Monday evening this week, I had this moment myself. It was the evening before we launched the first-ever Influence and Impact Summit. It’s a free online event I’m hosting from now through Tuesday. It features presentations from the top influencers I know. I’ve never done ANYTHING like it before.

That little voice kept saying … what if this just doesn’t work?

But on Tuesday morning, despite that nagging voice, we released the first three presentations (from me, Crystal Paine, and Pat Flynn). I’ll be the first to say it: it wasn’t perfect. There were technical glitches and last-minute tweaks.

But I’m so glad we pushed through.

The response has been overwhelming. In the first two days alone, the videos have been viewed more than 30,000 times. The event’s hashtag, #InfluenceImpact, fills up faster than we can manage. Someone new registers every 15 seconds — and you can too, for free.

It’s astounding.

One of the Most Powerful Things You’ll Learn as a Leader

I share this to illustrate one of the most powerful things I’ve learned in leadership:

I’m not the only one who knows it. It’s a breakthrough I’m witnessing over and over again as people share their takeaways from the conference.

Leaders and entrepreneurs are realizing powerful truths that will transform their businesses, ministries, and platforms.

Take Courtney, for example, who has tapped into courage she didn’t know she had.

And Branson, who listened to Jen Hatmaker’s talk and had the kind of “aha” moment that changes lives.

Now Niki has a powerful truth to rely on when leadership gets hard (and it always does):

I loved this “#Truthbomb” from Scott. Now that he knows this, even better things are in store for him.

And if these people haven’t convinced you that The Influence and Impact Summit is worth your time and attention, let me share one more tweet with you. Trust me, you should ALWAYS listen to this woman.

By the way, if you’re already registered for the Influence and Impact Summit and want to share what you’re learning, feel free to leave a comment on this Facebook post or tweet with the hashtag #InfluenceImpact.

What’s Waiting for You Outside Your Comfort Zone?

Registering for this kind of conference may feel outside your comfort zone.

Maybe it means saying “no” to other things in the next few days to make time for it, and it’s hard for you to say no.

Maybe you don’t think of yourself as the stereotypical charismatic and bold leader, and you’re not sure you have what it takes.

Maybe you’ve always dreamed of starting a platform but you’re not sure you have anything new to offer.

Whatever your case, I am confident that there is a powerful breakthrough awaiting you when you watch these presentations.

You’re not too late to join us. Six presentations are already available, and when you sign up, you’ll get access to watch all of them. We will add three new presentations every day through Tuesday, October 13th. And it’s all entirely free when you register here with your email address. However, after October 13th, ALL the presentations go away. So don’t wait.
